Gossip star Beth Ditto has set her sights on launching a socially-conscious clothing line.
The I Wrote the Book singer twice teamed up with bosses at U.K. retailer Evans to create a plus-size collection for the fashion house in 2009 and 2010.
But Ditto confesses the project didn't go as well as planned - because she hoped the products would be locally-made.
She tells New York Magazine, "I wish there was more control in that line, but there wasn't. It was really fun, but the things that I really wanted couldn't be turned around in time. It was made in India, which caused a lot of conflict for me."
And the 31 year old is now aiming to create her own fair trade range so curvy women can go shopping without feeling guilty about where their clothes came from.
She says, "I really want to do my own line that's ethically made, and I can do whatever the f**k I want with it... It wouldn't be crazy designs - it would be simple... Cheap, affordable, basic - but ethically made... for fat girls and boys."
Ditto insists she's just looking for the perfect partner to share her vision: "It's high concept, and I don't have time. I'd need to find someone to work with me on it, but I'm also very controlling about this, just like I am with Gossip stuff."
