Peaches Geldof

"#RIPPeaches": So went the hashtag that thousands of Twitter users used to pay tribute to the late Peaches Geldof, who was found dead in her Kent home on Monday with her baby son playing nearby. It's still not known how the 25 year-old mother-of-two suddenly passed away but her distraught family, including father Bob Geldof, have been given the body to plan a funeral whilst the toxicology test results come back. Farewell Mickey Rooney: Screen legend and former child star Mickey Rooney passed away last Sunday at home in California after a long illness. Known for his unforgettable roles in Night at the Museum, Breakfast at Tiffany's and National Velvet, the 93 year-old was still making plans to appear in more movies and lived up to his positive "Don't retire - inspire" mantra. An ugly dispute over Rooney's burial and will has erupted since the death but will hopefully soon be calmed so that Hollywood can honour one of its most prolific figures. 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier': The sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger has not only outstripped the box office sales of its predecessor but has gone on record as the biggest April movie of all time, warranting a third movie. The action epic took a whopping $96.2 million taken in the US over its first weekend. Watch the trailer here. Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson reprise their roles as S.H.I.E.L.D super in the big budget blockbuster, which is opening in theatres worldwide. Nirvana

Ready To Rock?: Last night's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony was everything you'd expect from a night devoted to one of music's biggest genres. Nirvana, Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Cat Stevens, Linda Ronstadt, Hall and Oates, the E Street Band, Andrew Loog Oldham and Brian Epstein were all welcomed into the Hall of Fame. After plenty of hush-hush, it emerged that Joan Jett and Lorde would be performing with former Nirvana rockers Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, who were inducted by R.E.M's Michael Stipe. But did Kiss managed to settle their disputes for the big night.

'Veep' Goof: One of the most embarrassing stories from this week's entertainment news was that of Julia Louis-Dreyfus and her Rolling Stone cover shoot. Sure, the Veep actress looked great in the buff with the constitution tattooed over her back - only problem was that John Hancock signed the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution as the magazine showed. Oops! Efforts were made to play down the goof but the error was plain for all to see. Luckily Julia as able to laugh about it and joked on Twitter that Mike McClintock, Matt Walsh's fictional Veep character, had messed up.

Stephen Colbert Gets Promoted: We were all sad when David Letterman announced that he'd be leaving the Late Show last week but are feeling a lot happier now that The Colbert Report's Stephen Colbert has been announced at the host's successor. Letterman hasn't decided exactly when his last show will be after 21 years as host but at least he'll be able to leave safe in the knowledge that The Late Show in in good hands. TV BAFTAs Nominees Announced: The nominees for the 2014 TV BAFTAs, the British equivalent of the Emmys, have been announced. Comedy The IT Crowd and dark crime drama Southcliffe lead the nominations with four apiece, forecasting a potential windfall for Channel 4 in May's ceremony. The first year that online-only shows have been considered, 2014 could see the Kevin Spacey-starring House of Cards and Bryan Cranston's Breaking Bad's awarded in the international category.
