'the bachelor' star Juan Pablo Galavis is quickly becoming remembered for all the wrong reasons!

The 32 year-old has said that he is not a "bad guy," after he gave the final rose to Nikki Ferrell, but did not propose.

"You go on thinking if there is the connection, you propose," he told People. "But I don't feel there's a need to propose to somebody if I don't feel 100%. I didn't know Nikki. I want to know more, a lot more."

Last night’s finale of the bachelor was much more eventful than anyone could have predicted. Keep that in mind and, if you haven’t seen it yet, but are planning to – skip the very spoiler-y recap ahead.

It was a possibility from the start, what with him being the most disliked bachelor in the show’s history, but it was still a shock when he ended up empty handed. On Monday, during the After the Rose special, Juan Pablo and his chosen one, Nikki, were reunited for the first time since filming the show.

Emily Maynard has been looking for love, and it looks like she finally found it. the bachelor and The Bachelorette star was "so excited" to become engaged as she and her boyfriend Tyler Johnson rang in the new year.

It has been confirmed by family that reality TV star Gia Allemand died yesterday (14 Aug) after she was removed from life support. The 29 year-old model was found hanging unconscious in her New Orleans home by her basketball player boyfriend on Monday (12th Aug) and was immediately rushed to hospital where she was on life support in critical condition until Wednesday, reports TMZ.

Gia's condition failed to improve despite medics' intervention and the decision was made to halt life support attempts. Her mother and boyfriend were at her side when she passed away in hospital and have confirmed Allemand's death. Just days before her attempted hanging, Gia was pictured out and about; looking happy with her boyfriend and attending a Herbal Essences event. It is believed that Gia's attempt to commit suicide as a result of a rocky relationship with her boyfriend Ryan, who plays for the New Orleans Pelicans, though this not confirmed.

Gia Allemand, a model and former the bachelor contestant, died today (14th August 2013) peacefully in a New Orleans hospital.

Gia Allemand at the Melanie Segal Celebrity Retreat in honour of the 2010 MTV Music Awards, held at the SLS Hotel in L.A.

Allemand was found unconscious on Monday by her boyfriend NBA player Ryan Anderson. She was rushed to hospital in a critical condition. When the news broke on Tuesday, her representative released a statement saying Allemand was in a critical condition "following a serious medical event."

Gia Allemand, who starred in the bachelor, is in a critical condition at New Orleans University hospital. According to a statement made to ABC by her publicist, Allemand was admitted into hospital on Monday (12th August) evening "following a serious medical event." Further details have not been officially released.

Melinda Farina, a good friend of Allemand's, has kept fans of The Bachelor star up to date with the latest news of her condition and treatment via Twitter. Tweeting today (Wednesday 14th August), Farina stated that Allemand was on life support with a low pulse and that she is hardly breathing. Farina claimed the news came from Allemand's mother and that the next 48 hours are critical.

Following the emotional rollercoaster that was the grand finale of The Bachelorette, at least one of the unlucky in-love contestants was able to have another go at finding love through a syndicated television programme that comes with a cash prize - the old fashioned way as some call it. Of the castaways not chosen by this year's Bachelorette, Desiree Hartsock, one has been handed a lifeline by ABC to finally find love (and cash) again.

The latino would-be suitor for Desiree; Juan Pablo Galavis was hand picked by the voting American public to be burdened with the task of having a dozen women swoon over him for the next season of the bachelor. Galavis had always looked like having the best chance of becoming the next bachelor, emerging as one of the frontrunners along with Brooks Forester and Disiree's personal choice Zak Waddell. Alas it was the Venezuela-born, ex-soccer player Galavis who emerged as the victor, becoming the first non-white contestant to be given a shot at love in the show's 11 year run.

Former “Bachelor” Jason Mesnick and his wife Molly Malaney Mesnick just welcomed their baby girl this Thursday, proving that true love sometimes does happen, even on reality matchmaker shows.

The pair met on the bachelor and are one of the few couples on the show who actually went on to get married and stay together. Interestingly enough though, Malaney was not the winner of Season 13. Instead, the final rose went to Melissa Rycroft. Only after the show did Mesnick publicly break up with Rycroft (on national television, how else?) and revive his romance with the runner-up, Malaney. Almost four years later, the relationship is still going strong. Now the proud parents of Riley Anne Mesnick already have their hands full with the new baby girl. She "has a full head of hair -- probably more than I'll have in the next few years," Jason told People magazine. "What's amazing to me is when Molly is holding Riley, her eyes do not come off of her. I'm already seeing how much Molly loves the baby."

The new mom herself has also expressed her excitement via social media: "Oooo this little peanut has already got me wrapped around her finger! #RileyMesnick," she tweeted Friday. Riley is Mesnick’s second child, but only Malaney’s first. So, all that’s left is to congratulate the new parents and wish them all the best with their happy and healthy baby girl.

ABC's the bachelor is showing no sign of slowing up, delivering a massive 9.2 million viewers for Monday's hometown dates episode. The show also reached a 3.0 rating for the first time this season, up 11 per cent from last week, which in turn was up 13 per cent from the week before. According to Entertainment Weekly, it's the best non-finale rating for The Bachelor in almost two years.

The viewing figures and ratings are surprising, given The Bachelor has been around for years with little changes to its format. Essentially, a guy is serenaded by a group of women, one of which he must choose to be his wife. Yep, that's it. But America is eating it up in huge helpings, and they want seconds. And thirds. And fourths. 

Another network celebrating this week is Fox, with serial-killer thriller The Following jumping 17 per cent in the ratings. The much discussed series, starring Kevin Bacon, had delivered worrying figures the previous week but bounced back with aplomb. So there critics.

The key to the bachelor and its on-going success is that there are always people that are single in America, which means that there are always contestants who’ll want to appear in the long running ABC series. There’s also another reason why folks might want to be the bachelor in particular: the tidy salary they get given for taking part. However, we’re that in the case of the new unlucky-in-love singleton Sean Lowe he is genuinely looking for a partner.

Lest we forget – and CNN have reported it so that we won’t – Lowe came third on the last season of The Bachelorette as Emily Maynard, so he has a fair idea of what’s going on in the series, which sees a bevvy of women whittled down (in choice, nothing more malicious) until the bachelor is left with the one he wants to be with forever (or until all the TV hype dies down , they get bored of each other and split.) The premiere for the new season aired last night (January 7) and saw Lowe meet women including Desiree, a bridal stylist, Tierra, an excitable Colorado native and Ashley P, who seems to be a crazy cat sort of woman.

Ashley P was never going to last the course, and she was the first to be booted out. Paige and KeriAnn were the other two of the 25 to get their marching orders, in spite of the latter telling Lowe that she’d driven “2775 miles” to meet him. Ouch.

Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney from ABC’s the bachelor franchise, are expecting their first child together. Due in May, the baby will join Ty, 7, Mesnick's son from a previous marriage.

We could not be more excited about our little addition and Ty is beyond thrilled to be a big brother!" the couple told US Weekly. "We have been so lucky throughout our lives, but this blessing really does complete us in a way we never knew. Life is changing for us in a really great way!" Thirty-six year-old Jason Mesnick confirmed the report on Twitter saying, 'WAHOOOOOOOO!!! Molly is going to be a MOM and TY a BIG BROTHER!" The couple met on the 13th season of "The Bachelor." Molly was actually the runner-up to the winner Melissa Rycroft. Mesnick proposed to Rycroft but ended up breaking up later, saying he still had feelings for Molly. The two married in February 2010. "He just looked at me and said, 'will you marry me?'" Malaney recounted. "A rush of happiness hit me. It was perfect."

The Bachelor rarely throws up a successful pairing, let alone a couple that stay together after the first encounter. And normally, you can forget dating, so the news that they were getting married would have been a surprise for many. But all seems well with the couple, and they’ll have a little one to prove it come May.

Courtney Robertson and Ben Flajnik have called time on their nine-month engagement, with Ben confirming with People Magazine on Friday that the two couldn't find a way to manage their relationship and have had to call it quits.

The one-time couple's relationship was chronicled on ABC's hit reality show the bachelor, in which Robertson was chosen from a batch of 25 women to become Mrs Flajnik - with the eligible bachelor proposing atop a mountain on the show's final episode, After the Final Rose.

Flajnik and Robertson originally broke up in February 2012 while season 15 of the show was airing. However, they later reconciled and got engaged for the second time, but broke up again this week seemingly for good.

The new Bachelor has been named as Bachelorette finalist Sean Lowe who is the lucky man that the ladies in the competition will be vying for. E! Online had reported last week that the deal to sign the blue-eyed blonde-haired hunk was "pretty much done", and it's now been reported by a source close to the production team that "Sean is our choice. I think we finally got everyone to sign off."

Lowes was a popular man on the Bachelorette last season, managing to make the final three of the competition and at one point looking like he might well manage to snag single mom Emily Maynard, only to be given the boot the week before the final, with Maynard instead opting to go with Utah entrepreneur Jef Holm.

However, he's now guaranteed to get a result now that he's the man who'll be doing the picking, and it comes as no real great surprise. It's believed that his name was in the mix to be the next Bachelor for months, with Olympian Ryan Lochte and last season's Bachelorette runner-up Arie Luyendyk Jr. It's the 17th season of the show, a quite remarkable success story. The current season is reportedly in production and will be good to go from January of next year.
