The Primetime Emmy Award nominations will be announced on Thursday (18th July). Speculation surrounding the awards is high, with Netflix's Arrested Development predicted to triumph. The awards will be announced by Kate Mara and Aaron Paul.
Aaron Paul will announce the nominations on Thursday.
Game Of Thrones is also suspected as a strong contender in the category of Best Drama Series. Homeland who won a number of awards last year is predicted to flop owing to its disappointing second series.
The primary focus of the awards is on the best drama and comedy series. Awards are also given to the best actors and supporting actors.
The main awards and the possible contenders for nominations are as follows.
Comedy Nominations
Comedy Series: Modern Family, which won last year's Best Comedy Series is a shoe-in for this category. Netflix's Arrested Development is most likely to be nominated, and will probably win, if not this award possibly another, owing to its popularity. 30 Rock and The Mindy Project are also strong possibilities.
Actress in a Comedy Series:Veep Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a possibility, as she won last year. Tina Fey is likely to be nominated for 30 Rock, as is Girls' Lena Dunham. Mindy Kaling who wrote, produced and starred in The Mindy Project, certainly deserves to be nominated.
Julia Louis Dreyfus at the 3rd Critics Choice Awards held by the Broadcast Television Journalist's Association.
Actor in a Comedy Series:Two And A Half Men actor Jon Cryer and his former co-star Charlie Sheen (Anger Management) could be up against one another in this category. Arrested Development could also triumph with Jason Bateman. The Big Bang Theory could win its last Emmy with a nomination for Jim Parsons.
Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series:Modern Family could be nominated once again with Sofia Vergara as Best Supporting Actress. Arrested Development too could have a shot with Jessica Walter as a possibility. Big Bang Theory, Nurse Jackie and Community also offer possible candidates.
Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series: This is one of the more open categories with a large number of possibilities. These include any of the supporting actors from Modern Family and Community in addition to Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Adam Driver (Girls).

Drama Nominations
Drama Series: Reports are suggesting HBO's Game of Thrones is a strong contender following its shocking 'Red Wedding' episode. Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Scandal and The Americans are also likely candidates. Homeland which won a number of awards last year has had a disappointing second series so is unlikely to feature.
Actress:Clare Danes offered another brilliant performance as Carrie in this season's Homeland. Bates' Motel Vera Farmiga may also be a possibility, however, the drama was largely panned by critics and the script certainly isn't up to the same standards as Homeland, Scandal or The Americans. The latter two shows offer possibly candidates, respectively, Olivia Pope and Keri Russel.
Actor:Hannibal's Hugh Dancy; Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Humman and The American's Matthew Rhys are all possible contenders.

Supporting actor: The actors in the supposrting category are from a wider range of shows than the primary actor awards. They include Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire), Noah Emmerich (The Americans), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) and David Morrissey (The Walking Dead).

Best TV/Movie Or Mini-series: The disturbing American Horror Story: Asylum is a possibility for this category, however it was graphic and at times, unpleasant, watching. As such it may not be to all the panel's tastes. Behind The Candelabra, a TV movie following the relationships of entertainer Liberace is a possibility, due to its striking portrayal of his life and brilliant casting. For those with more conservative tastes The Bible is a strong contender.
These are merely speculations. The Emmy Award nominations will be announced on Thursday morning, at 5.40am, by actors Kate Mara and Aaron Paul.
