Nostalgia is certainly the order of the day at Walt Disney Studios, with the film company determined to update some of the family favourites in the next few years. One classic to be given a contemporary makeover is 1977's 'Pete's Dragon', which has just arrived on screens.

The iconic Oscar nominated musical, which was a live action epic featuring an animated dragon, has returned; though this time without the sing-a-longs and with Elliott the dragon becoming a CGI masterpiece. Those who remember the original directed by Don Chaffey will know it as a story about an orphan on the run from his cruel adoptive parents, who is guided to the safety of a town in New England by this enormous fire-breathing creature with the power of invisibility. Elliott manages to wreak havoc on the town though, leaving Pete initially only welcomed by Nora and her father who live in a lighthouse.

"I was brought up on Disney and loved the original animated version," she says. "I'm exactly the age that is the sweet spot for that film." And after starring in a few grown-up films (including 50/50, The Help and Jurassic World), she was enthusiastic about making a family movie. "I'm extremely protective of my own children and what I let them watch," she says. "When I was reading the script, I felt absolutely transported and my heart was moved. I felt this was something I would be so proud to be a part of because I feel it's a wonderful story for children."

And the irony of moving from dinosaurs to dragons wasn't lost on her. "I shot Jurassic World, and then just a few months later Pete's Dragon," Howard says. "I was very much in that world of reptilian fantasy characters, and I kept messing up the whole time. I'd be like, 'Okay, where's the dinosaur? No, I mean dragon!' It was a weird thing, with the stark difference that when looking at dinosaurs, your expression is mostly fear. When looking at the friendliest, sweetest, most adorable dragon on the planet, your expression is largely one of love, excitement and fun. Eventually, by the time I was ending the shoot, I was clear on the dragon situation."

'Black Mirror' finally has an air date as Netflix prepare to take over from Channel 4 and bring an extended third season to viewers. Creator Charlie Brooker has remained tight-lipped about the details of what to expect in the new series, but the cast, crew and episode titles have all been unveiled.

The new series will be twice as long as the previous two at 6 episodes, 4 of which have been written by Charlie Brooker and many starring rising Hollywood stars. For those who aren't familiar with the series, it's basically a collection of short films; each exploring a different facet of society from technoloy and reality TV to politics and personal ethics.

Actress and comedian Leslie Jones has criticised fashion designers on Twitter after she had trouble finding a dress for the upcoming Ghostbusters premiere. Jones stars in the all-female reboot alongside Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon, which is set for release next month.

Leslie Jones says designers haven't been willing to help her find a dress for the Ghostbusters premiere.

On Twitter Jones wrote: “It’s so funny how there are no designers wanting to help me with a premiere dress for movie. Hmmm that will change and I remember everything.” The comedian did receive a reply from one designer, Christian Siriano, who responded with a clapping emoji.

Due for release a whopping fourteen years after its predecessor, the unveiling of the hugely anticipated Jurassic World is finally within our grasp. Overcoming what has been described as a decade of “production hell”, the fourth film in the gargantuan Hollywood blockbuster franchise had until recently managed to keep many of its details under wraps. Yet, as is increasingly common in Hollywood, such attempts were ultimately futile as finer details of the plot were leaked onto various websites.

Such an act has fervently infuriated director Colin Trevorrow, who follows the lineage of both Joe Johnston and the legendary Steven Spielberg in helming the extensive filming and production schedule. The up-and-coming San Franciscan director, whose previous movie credits include only the TV-movie Gary: In Crisis and the low budget time travel adventure Safety Not Guaranteed, has had a sharp introduction to the prying eyes of the Hollywood press. His obvious dismay that elements of the film are known to the public a year before its scheduled release is perfectly understandable.

We were a little sceptical about last week's plot leak regarding Jurassic World, not least because Universal had done a pretty great job of keeping a lid on things so far. However, it's with a heavy heart that director Colin Trevorrow has confirmed that the rumors leaking online were in fact accurate.

In an exclusive interview with /Film, a downbeat Trevorrow said: "When I was a kid, you got to discover everything at once, it washed over you and blew your mind. Now it only takes one person to spoil it for everyone else. I hope whoever leaked it is actively trying to undermine what we're doing. Because if they're trying to help, they're doing it wrong."

According to industry publication The Wrap, Howard only recently received an offer for the project after long being rumored for a part. After recently taking time off to start a family, she is reportedly ready to field movie offers again and already has a strong credits list that includes a stellar 2011 with The Help and 50/50.

Bryce Dallas Howard has been offered a role in Jurassic World. The daughter of Ron Howard, the Oscar winning director of such films as A Beautiful Mind, Dallas Howard is no stranger to appearing in big budget films after featuring in Terminator: Salvation and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Jurassic World will continue the franchise created by Steven Spielberg in 1993. The last film of the franchise to be released was in 2001. Jurassic Park was, for a number of years, the highest grossing film of all time, gaining $970 million worldwide. Since then, according to The Wrap, the last three films have raked in a whopping $1.9 billion.
