British acting legend Hugh Laurie has had his long-list of achievements finally recognised with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The star of American medical drama House was among a long list of celebrities who will be honoured at the famous landmark in Los Angeles in 2017.

Laurie, 57, won two consecutive Golden Globes for his portrayal of Gregory House in the eight-series drama focusing on a specialist diagnostics team but was already an established star as one half of comedian duo Fry and Laurie from Jeeves and Wooster and Blackadder.

Tom Hiddleston has ruled out returning for another series of BBC hit ‘The Night Manager’. The adaptation of the novel by John le Carre had been a hit with viewers and critics and there were reports of work on a second series. However Hiddleston and co-star Hugh Laurie have said it won’t be happening.

"As it stands, Pine exists for six hours in a mini series. The story feels complete,” Hiddleston said while promoting the miniseries in the US. "I only ever conceived of it as an adaptation of a complete novel.”

Comedian Stephen Fry has opened up about his disappearance in 1995, saying he would have ended his own life if he didn’t have the option of vanishing for a while. The 58-year-old was speaking as part of BBC documentary ‘Stephen Fry: A Life On Screen’ which airs tonight (December 29th) on BBC Two.

Fry disappeared in 1995 just three days before he was due to star in Cell Mates on London’s West End. At the time a spokesperson for his agent said, “We are concerned about him” and confirmed they did not know the comedian’s whereabouts.

Stephen Fry and Elliott Spencer are married! The couple announced their happy news on Saturday (17th January). Fry announced the news via Twitter and attached a picture of the couple signing the marriage register. "Gosh. @ElliottGSpencer and I go into a room as two people, sign a book and leave as one. Amazing," Fry wrote.

Stephen Colbert’s political satire might be top notch, but his dance skills are not to be overestimated. Last night, the Colbert Report host strapped on a pair of roller skates and boogied down to the sound of 'Get Lucky' – the Daft Punk/Pharrell Williams hit that’s become the inescapable soundtrack to this summer. The, um, energetic performance served as the kickoff for Colbert’s summer series of concerts or “StePhest Colbchella ‘013” – it’s what the cool kids call it.

Who knew Colbert posessed such hidden talents?

But, of course, the host dancing all by himself would have been a bit sad, so instead he brought in some friends – Hugh Laurie, Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and even Colbert’s former colleague, Jon Stewart – still on leave from The Daily Show – joined in with some tight moves. Colbert’s moves turned out to be too much for the Colbert Report studio, so the shenanigans infiltrated the America’s Got Talent stage and even an interview with Bryan Cranston and the rest of the Breaking Bad cast – at which point Cranston simply joined in for an amazing 70s themed dance routine. There’s nothing more galling than listening to a TV actor complaining about their £250,000 per episode job, is there? Perhaps someone might like to tell Hugh Laurie that, because that’s exactly what he’s been doing, in an interview with Radio Times (reported by Daily Mail). Now, we’ve all had days where we’d rather not get up for work, or fantasized about some event or other cropping up that would prevent us from getting ourselves to work. However, if we were earning a quarter of a million pounds per episode, we reckon we’d probably do our best to be pretty chipper about the whole thing.

Laurie told Radio Times, however, that he simply couldn’t cope with all the pressure of fame that his successful, £250,000 per episode job brought him and had to go through the tiring process of getting hi car windows blacked out just to retain a degree of privacy. Now don’t get us wrong, we appreciate that constant attention and harassment must be wearing, but perhaps telling the national magazines all about your woes isn’t the best outlet for your struggles. He must be able to afford a therapist, surely?

“I had some pretty bleak times, dark days when it seemed like there was no escape. And having a very Presbyterian work ethic, I was determined never to be late, not to miss a single day's filming. You wouldn't catch me phoning in to say, 'I think I may be coming down with the flu,” he reportedly told Radio Times. Our hearts weep, Hugh.

Ashton Kutcher has been named TV’s highest paid actor. The Two and a Half Men star may have disgraced himself in the celebrity gossip world, by allegedly cheating on his partner Demi Moore, but in the world of television, he’s still hot property and commands a staggering fee for his appearances in the show.

According to Forbes’ annual survey of the highest paid television actors, Kutcher earned $24 million between May 2011 and May 2012. His predecessor on Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen (who left the show in a pretty dramatic fashion after suffering what appeared to be some kind of mental breakdown) did not even make the Top 10. That said, when Sheen was at the top of his game, he out-classed Kutcher significantly, with earnings of $40 million. Sheen wasn’t the only big name star to mysteriously disappear from the Top 10 though. Steve Carell, who proved to be a massive hit on the small screen with the US adaptation of Ricky Gervais’ The Office, also dropped off the list.

Snapping at Kutcher’s heels at the top of the list was Hugh Laurie, who ranked second with $18 million, largely for his role in House. Ray Romano earned an equal amount, and still appears to be raking it in with re-runs of his classic Everybody Loves Raymond comedy. Alec Baldwin’s in next with $15 million, still charming TV audiences with his role in 30 Rock.

Two-and-a-Half Men is the show that forks out the most for its lead actors; last year Charlie Sheen topped Forbes' list of TV's Highest-Paid TV Actors list with $40m and this year its new lead Ashton Kutcher has taken over the prestigious spot, albeit with a decidedly smaller sum of just $26m.

Hugh Laurie for his role in 'House' and Ray Romano, for a now cancelled 'Men of a Certain Age' were runners up to Kutcher, each raking in $18m. We'd all be happy to plum for second place in this race. Aside from Laurie, it was entirely sitcom actors that scored the bigtime in this list, with stars of 30 Rock, Last Man Standing, Men, and The Big Bang Theory - Alec Baldwin, family favourite Tim Allen, Jon Cryer, and Jim Parsons and Alan Galecki, respectively, all managing to make it into the top ten.

However, as much as it's always great to celebrate in the successes of others, for women in the equivalent category, financial success seems to not be quite so easy. Sophia Vergara from Modern Family is this year's female top earner, but at just (ha! just?) $19m, she's lagging behind Kutcher by $7m! Plus, the genres in which these women find their careers is far more varied than men - still including comedy, but also drama, reality and medical dramas all find their way into the list. Desperate Housewives is one show that truly shows women multitasking, and Felicity Huffman and Eva Longoria, two stars of the show, both appear in the top ten. Although men still earn more than women, it seems the ladies can take the prize for versatility.
