Country: Portraits Of An American Sound Trailer

Country music has long been associated as a storytelling journey, but the evolution of the country sound has been made most obvious not by the music but by the image. There was a time when arenas would sparkle from all the rhinestones and when stetsons were a must-have. Then Johnny Cash brought his man in black phase into the mix, and with it a rebellion that few had seen before amongst those of that genre. Pretty soon it was all about carving out your own niche, fixing your own trademark look; whether it was Kenny Rogers and his white three-piece suits, or Tanya Tucker with her 'badgirl' catsuits and tight pants. Pictures from the mutation of country music throughout the last eight decades are perhaps some of the most telling because something about the looks of these country stars had as much of an impact as the music itself.

LeAnn Rimes To Air Comedy Show 'Based On Our Reality' With Eddie Cibrian

Leann Rimes Eddie Cibrian Brandi Glanville

Leann Rimes has announced that she and husband Eddie Cibrian are airing their own TV show based on their lives at home together.

It's not a reality show, it's a 'show based on our reality' according to the singer who announced the news to People Magazine. 'We'll take things out of our lives and elaborate them and make them funny', she explains. 'People have been laughing at us - we want them to laugh with us!' There's no telling whether or not people will, indeed, laugh at this new errr. sitcom? But LeAnn certainly seems sure of it adding, 'For some reason, everyone is so interested in our lives but they don't actually know about them.'

She says she wants to 'take control' of her private life again by broadcasting even further in a scripted TV show. She also thinks it will reinvigorate her professional relationship with Eddie who she's desperate to work with again. 'That's why we explored the idea of doing the show, to be able to be together', she said, seeming to be full of reasons why doing an ill-omened comedy show is a good idea.

Huh? LeAnn Rimes Was "Disgusted" At Herself Over Eddie Cibran Affair

Leann Rimes

Leann Rimes was not a fan of herself, after she was caught having an affair with Eddie Cibran back in 2009. "I was feeling all these crazy emotions and feeling terrible about myself and was disgusted by myself and thought I was pathetic," she said in a recent interview.

Evidently Rimes didn’t feel disgusted enough to end the affair, and the couple are now in fact married. But nevertheless, the time around it becoming public knowledge was pretty tumultuous for the singer. "I went in and took care of myself because I was stressed, I was depressed and anxious, and I didn't know how to process everything," she told Us Weekly of her decision to check into an in-patient facility in August 2012. She put it down to constant public scrutiny, saying that her "whole life has been out there for everyone to judge" since she was just 13 years old. "Going away was something I really needed to do."

Anyway, as tends to happen with most songwriters going through a tough time, she managed to put together a deeply personal album out of it, and new album Spitifire bears the marks of that time. "I think I opened up the can of worms for myself by writing this record," she said. "There were a lot of things I didn't even realize I was feeling...I needed to go somewhere and really process all of that stuff.” Now she says it’s all good. "I'm the strongest I've ever been," she commented. "I'm the most honest with myself that I've ever been, I'm the most secure I've ever been about myself and my family, and I'm the most confident I've been in a really long time."

LeAnn Rimes Denies Anorexia Rumors: "Now I'm Ok With My Body"

Leann Rimes Brandi Glanville

Country star Leann Rimes has never been one to shy away from admitting her problems, but she insists that an eating disorder isn’t among them. The “How Do I Live” singer has come under a lot of scrutiny lately for her thinning physique. A lot of publications have speculated that Rimes is anorexic, but she maintains that she shed the pounds naturally, because of all the stress of her recent past.

"People said I was [anorexic], but I didn't have a problem with eating, as I ate a ton all the time - I could eat my husband under the table!" she tells the Daily Mail. "But I was going through a time when I just wasn't sleeping -- my mind wouldn't shut off and my heart was breaking." Rimes is referring to a time two years ago, when she was in an affair with now-husband Eddie Cibrian. The two met on the set of Northern Lights in 2009 and, at the time, both were still married – Rimes to dancer Dean Sheremet and Cibrian to future Real Housewife Brandi Glanville.

Rimes describes the period after their affair as a "turbulent" one. "To say I've been on several roller coasters is an understatement," she admits to the Daily Mail. According to her own words, she is in a much healthier place now though. So maybe this means that we’ll see the singer put on a few pounds soon.

LeAnn Rimes Splashes Out On New $3 Million House

Leann Rimes

No wonder Leann Rimes is keeping cool in the whole ugly spat between her and Brandy – she’s just splashed out $3 million on a happening pad so that she and her husband (Brandy’s ex-husband) Eddie Cibrian can get back and chill out after a hard day’s slagging off.

The New York Daily News just reported that the latest twist to the tale, which has seen everything from accusations of mental instability, to questions over who should be looking Eddie’s kids, saw Brandy tell the Howard Stern Show that Cibrian was only with Rimes for her money. Well, when you hear about this house you’d sure suggest that money was one of the reasons that Rimes was such a draw to him. It’s mahoosive. Located in Hidden Hills, Los Angeles, the new pad stretches over 2.2 acres of land, but was an absolute, um, snip at £3 million, with the original asking price thought to be getting up towards $5.75 million. The house itself offers around 8,600 square feet of living space, with a four-car garage, BBQ area and outdoor swimming pool also on the grounds.

The Spanish-style mansion has a ridiculous six bedrooms and nine bathrooms, as well as a central staircase, and wooden beams to give the house a rustic look - and that’s not all. As well as the main living quarters, the grounds also have an outdoor dining area, a guest house (!). It sounds amazing to us, though we can predict one guest who won’t be ever welcome.

Carrie Underwood And Jason Aldean Lead Tributes To The Late Mindy McCready

Mindy McCready Jason Aldean Carrie Underwood Leann Rimes

Tributes have poured in from the world of country music after the shocking news emerged that troubled country star Mindy McCready allegedly took her own life in her home yesterday (February 17, 2013). Sadly McCready never fully capitalized on her twice platinum selling debut album Ten Thousand Angels, released in 1996 when she was just 20, and in an all-too-familiar tragic tale, her life was eventually over taken by legal issues and substance problems.

Nevertheless her music, including five studio albums, inspired many who’ve gone on to make waves in the genre, and that was replicated in the messages that came out on Twitter in wake of the news of her death. “Just heard about Mindy McCready. My thoughts and prayers are with her 2 boys and her family” wrote the multiple award-winning Jason Aldean, whilst American Idol alumni Carried Underwood added “I grew up listening to Mindy McCready...so sad for her family tonight. Many prayers are going out to them...”

Other who came forward in homage to the late singer included Leann Rimes, who wrote “My heart goes out to Mindy McCready's family. I knew her well. It's a horribly [sic] tragedy. May peace be with her son's.” Those who were big at the time of her own height of fame chipped in too, with Wynonna Judd writing “Oh my! Mindy. Dear sweet girl. This is so sad. It just breaks my heart what addiction continues to take from this life.” McCready was 37 years old at the time of her death; just last month her boyfriend had died of a suspected suicide.

Rimes Sues Dentist, Claims Shoddy Work Left Her Unable To Sing

Leann Rimes Eddie Cibrian Brandi Glanville

Leann Rimes sued her dentist, after claiming that his below-par dental work has left her with “permanent cosmetic deficiency” and physical pain. She has also claimed that she was left unable to sing (and therefore earn money) as a result of the dentistry. omg! obtained a copy of the lawsuit and report that Rimes is now suing the dentist for his work. She has often complained about her teeth and dental woes on her Twitter page in the past.

LeAnn claims that she has had to undergo nine root canal operations, bone grafting, a temporary bridge and physical therapy, all in order to deal with the dentist’s poor workmanship. In addition to suffering that trauma, she also claims that it left her unable to sing, so she’s seeking a pay out for loss of earnings, past and future. The 30 year-old is booked to appear at the C2C: Country to Country festival in London, in March, 2013.

Who, Me? Brandi Glanville Denies Cheating On Eddie Cibrian

Brandi Glanville Eddie Cibrian Leann Rimes

Brandi Glanville has vehemently denied a report that she cheated on ex-husband Eddie Cibrian before his affair with country singer and actress Leann Rimes. US Weekly magazine quotes several sources as saying Glanville, 40, cheated on the 39-year-old actor several times during their eight-year marriage. "Brandi loves to play the victim, but she doesn't tell the whole story," the magazine said, quoting one source.

Brandi- one of the stars of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and author of the new book Drinking & Tweeting - took to Twitter on Tuesday (February 5, 2013) to deny the report. "Apparently I cheated on eddie a few times with some Hot guys! Wow! Grasping at straws 4 yrs later a week before book is out #WISHIHAD watev," she wrote. She also took aim at one source who claimed she had sex with another man shortly after giving birth to her second son. "I had the baby blues after Jake was born I wasn't even hav n sex with EC let alone anyone else," she said, adding, "Such BS but I kind of want to buy the mag now."

In one of the biggest celebrity stories of that year, Rimes, 30, had a very public affair with Cibrian while he was married to Glanville. Both divorced their then-spouses and married each other. Glanville and Rimes have been involved in a spiky Twitter spat for over a year.

Brandi Glanville Gives Away Wedding Dress From Eddie Cibrian Nuptials

Brandi Glanville Leann Rimes Eddie Cibrian

Brandi Glanville appears to be getting rid of everything that reminds of her ex-husband Eddie Cibrian, including her no-doubt very expensive wedding dress. The couple tied the knot in 2001 though were officially divorced 9 years later after Cibrian struck up a relationship with country singer Leann Rimes. Now, the 40-year-old model has decided to donate her wedding gown to a "soon-to-be army wife."

Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star Brandi announced the news on her Twitter page, saying, "I still haven't heard about who received it! I hope it makes someone very happy." Glanville shares custody of her sons Mason, 9, and Jake, 5, with her ex-husband, which has caused conflict between herself and Rimes. Last week, Brandi became incensed with Rimes after she kept referencing her and Cibrian's vacation home in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. "Ok Im super excited my kids are moving into a mansion but I want to throw up in my mouth and swallow it- having to keep hearing about it," said Glanville. Their Twitter rivalry heated up in November 2012 when Rimes referred to Glanville and Cibrian's two children as "her boys." Brandi snapped back, "Someone is trying 2 get under my skin by calling MY children 'her boys' Sooo transparent! They R MY boys, Eddie Boys and ur step-sons... 4 now."

Cibrian married Rimes in April 2011 following a two-year relationship. They met as co-stars on the Lifetime movie Northern Lights.

Speculation Grows Over LeAnne Rimes' Questionable X Factor Display

Leann Rimes

We’re not used to seeing country starlets going into the classic Spears/Lohan type tailspin, but Leann Rimes’s odd performance on the X Factor on Wednesday was one instance where the clean cut, all American stereotype didn’t seem to apply.

The Huffington Post called the performance “awkward” and speculation has arisen online that the singer was drunk when she took the stage alongside 13-year-old contestant Carly Rose Soneclar.

Rimes’s lawyer, Larry Stein, has adamantly denied the rumors and attributed the country star’s unusual performance to the fact that she was singing alongside an inexperienced contestant. "LeAnn was not performing the way she would normally perform, because she was on stage with a young girl," Stein commented for TMZ. Regarding the speculation that LeAnn was drunk on stage, he said: "There have been a lot of untrue things said by others and it feeds into this sort of thing." Of course, there could have been a number of factors feeding into the shaky display on Wednesday. According to sources, the singer hasn’t had it easy lately. She has been treated for stress and anxiety during the summer and, a day before her X Factor performance, told Jay Leno that she was battling a cold. Whatever the reason, we wish Ms Rimes good luck with her recovery.

Carly Rose Sonenclar’s Mom Angry At LeAnn Rimes For Dissing Her Daughter

Leann Rimes Carly Rose Sonenclar

When we saw today’s headlines, here at Contactmusic, we were astounded to learn that Leann Rimes had cruelly thrown a young girl under the wheels of a bus. It was with some relief, then, that we learned that both the wheels and the bus were simply metaphorical. What TMZ were in fact referring to, is that the 30 year old country star has royally p***ed off Carly Rose Sonenclar’s family by dissing her performance during their X Factor duet of 'How Do I Live?' on Tuesday night (December 18, 2012).

In a bid to deflect the criticism that was levelled at LeAnn herself, which ranged from ‘she’s drunk’ to simply ‘well, that was embarrassingly bad,’ LeAnn decided that the honorable thing to do would be to make sure that everyone realised that it wasn’t her fault. So she blamed Carly Rose. The 13 year-old girl. Nice one LeAnn! Rimes insisted that if the duet sounded awkward, it was simply because “I was trying to help this 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song.” Though it should probably be noted that Carly Rose didn’t appear to be having trouble with the song until YOU piped up, LeAnn!

Rimes is now trying to backtrack, saying she never gave the quote but TMZ say otherwise. The quote got the OK from her press agent (maybe they were drunk too?) so there’s no going back on it now. You just threw a teenage girl under a metaphorical bus and asked the metaphorical driver to put his metaphorical foot on the gas. Tut.

What Was Up With LeAnn Rimes' X Factor Performance? Well, She Wasn't Drunk!

Leann Rimes

It's been a tough time for Leann Rimes recently; she's been accused of inadvertently poisoning a child with a laxative, and attending rehab sessions. So a performance on one of the most-watched talent shows around was the perfect idea to relieve the stress. Oh, no.

Considering how strange she was on stage, fans have been suggesting that her rehab stint was less than successful, and that she was in fact drunk during the performance. This, however, is something Larry Stein - Rimes' lawyer - denies vehemently. "LeAnn was not performing the way she would normally perform, because she was on stage with a young girl," Larry Stein told celeb gossip site, TMZ. "There have been a lot of untrue things said by others and it feeds into this sort of thing."

On Tuesday, LeAnn told Jay Leno on The Tonight Show her decision enter rehab came when she decided to make a change on her 30th birthday. "God, the last four years have been super compressed with anxiety," she said. "I didn't know how to deal with it all."

LeAnn Rimes X Factor Performance: What The Hell Happened To Her?!

Leann Rimes The X Factor USA Carly Rose Sonenclar Eddie Cibrian

Leann Rimes wobbly performance on The X Factor stage left fans scratching their heads last night, with the country star seeming a little unstable.

TMZ.com described the duet with Carly Rose Sonenclar as "a weird performance that has a lot of people wondering if she hit the bottle before taking the mic."

The website interpreted one instance when Rimes clutched Carly Rose as her attempting to "maintain her balance," adding that she "seemed to meander as the song went along." Rolling Stone described Carly Rose's performance as "one hot mess," though added, "In her defense, it wasn't her fault. The blame falls squarely on her duet partner LeAnn Rimes." Really going for the jugular, the magazine added, "Rimes' greasy-haired, skin and bones dumpster-diver look was a total distraction. We couldn't take our eyes off her. She's only 30 - what in the hell happened to her? However, even if we had covered our eyes, the song was still a disaster." As a previous frontrunner for the competition, it seems Carly's chances of winning The X Factor may have been severely dented by the duet with Rimes.

Brandi Glanville Tumor Scare Adds To 'Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills' Star's Troubles

Brandi Glanville Leann Rimes Eddie Cibrian

Brandi Glanville has been in the news recently for another spat with country pop singer Leann Rimes, but something altogether more serious has come to light with the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star telling In Touch magazine that she is to have surgery this week to remove a tumor on her breast.

Glanville has apparently not been feeling well for months and was eventually told by doctors that it was a result of a tumor growing in her breast; thankfully for the star, further tests revealed that the lump was not cancerous and this can be removed relatively straight forwardly. "I am having surgery this week and am relieved it’s going to be over with,” Brandi told the publication. "It's a blessing the tumor is non-cancerous.” She added “I'm anxious about the recovery but have great friends who will be playing nurse. I'm ready to get it over with and feel better."

All of this has come on top of a tough couple of weeks for Glanville, who became embroiled in a widely reported Twitter spat with Rimes after claiming that her nine year-old son Mason became ill after eating one of the “unstable” singer’s laxative pills. This caused to Rimes to hit back with her own accusations about Glanville’s state to be a mother. To say the pair have history is an understatement; Rimes had an affair with Glanville’s then-husband and father of her two children, Eddie Cibrian, causing him to eventually marry her.

Brandi Glanville has revealed that she is to receive surgery after doctors found a tumor on her breast during a routine check earlier this week.

The Real Housewives of Beverley Hills star will go under the knife to remove the tumor, which fortunately in benign and offers little threat of being cancerous. The reality star revealed the news during an interview with In Touch magazine on Saturday (Dec 8), telling the mag that she had felt unwell for some time before visiting doctors. After her inspection doctors then found that sickness was a result of the tumor, with a surgery date to remove it immediately scheduled following the discovery.

She told the magazine, "I am having surgery this week and am relieved it’s going to be over with...It's a blessing the tumor is non-cancerous"

Brandi Glanville And LeAnn Rimes Feud Continues Over Mistaken Laxative Claims

Leann Rimes Brandi Glanville

Leann Rimes is under siege again from Brandi Glanville - the ex-wife of Eddie Cibrian - and this time it's about a mystery illnesses suffered by one of her sons, who is now under the care of Rimes.

Allegedly, Rimes has an eating disorder, which means she carries at least one laxative around in her purse at all times. Misconstruing this for a piece of candy, Glanville claims, Mason ate one and fell ill. "I, unfortunately, don't find her to be stable," Glanville said, "and I don't want her around my kids when Eddie's not there -- or at least the nanny, his parents, someone. Mason, my eldest, ate some of Le's candies and got extremely ill. And Le's candies are laxatives. It was a big fucking deal for me, and I lost my mind. She has one in every purse. Mason found on on the floor and thought it was a Skittle! They don't keep sugar in the house. He thought he finally found candy."

Rimes, though, is not going down without a fight, and has issued a scathing retort, according to ABC News. "There is only one person constantly speaking to the press and that is Brandi. Why do you think that is? Her whole show is based on controversy, drama and publicity," her rep, Marcel Pariseau said. "She is the only one to gain by spewing forth inaccuracies, rants and half-truths. It's time for people to see it for what this really is -- she has a book and show to promote and sell."

LeAnn Rimes Denies Stepson Laxative Illness

Leann Rimes Brandi Glanville

Allegations have surfaced that Leann Rimes' stepson fell ill after he consumed some of her laxatives, but Rimes has denied this in a statement via a spokesperson, claiming "(It's) just more inaccuracies and half-truths."

Brandi Glanville was the accuser, saying that potentially dangerous pills were  left around the house after her 12-year-old allegedly got sick because he thought they were candy. "Mason, my eldest, ate some of Le's candies and got extremely ill. And Le's candies are laxatives... Mason told me about it, and then Eddie's assistant, who was working for me at the time, also told me about it out of concern for my children," she told US weekly. "She has (a laxative) in every purse. Mason found one on the floor and thought it was a Skittle! They don't keep sugar in the house. He thought he finally found candy!"

Since denying these claims, Eddie Cibrian, 39, who was married to Brandi until their marriage hit the rocks in 2009, told the magazine: In a statement to Us, "It is absolutely ridiculous that my ex-wife continues to put the personal lives of myself, LeAnn, our sons and my family on public display for the sake of her notoriety. She is fully capable and has the means of contacting myself and LeAnn privately to discuss any matter concerning the children. The fact she chooses not to, should be pretty transparent. And while I do not wish to fuel her ever-igniting fire, there is a breaking point where enough is enough."

Brandi Glanville On LeAnn Rimes And Her Ex-Husband Eddie Cibrian

Brandi Glanville Leann Rimes Eddie Cibrian

Brandi Glanville's divorce from Eddie Cibrian would have been hard enough, but throw in a custody battle and a famous new wife, and you're looking at a turbulent time for all involved.

Glanville has been speaking to Access Hollywood about the new dynamic between her, Cibrian and Leann Rimes, as she gets used to life without constant contact with her kids. "[My sons] like her, it would be hard for me if they didn't like her, I would be in court trying to get them back all the time," she explained to Billy and Kit. And seeing them dressed up on Halloween was hard for the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star. "With the situation with [Eddie] and I, it was more like, 'Haha, I won.' And now it's like, 'I won, I have the kids, I have the husband.' But its [like], 'OK, you win, now go make music,'" she said, adding, "I feel like there's still this, 'I got your family.'"

Clearly bitter about the whole affair, she went on to say,  "I have issues from time to time when... any divorce is hard. I wish the best for them... I want them to be happy and I want her to make music and do the whole thing and just be respectful." The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which she calls a 'rollercoaster" returns tonight (Nov 5, 2012) on at 9/8c on Bravo.
