Steve Carell is reportedly replacing Bruce Willis in Woody Allen’s next film. Sources speaking to a U.S. entertainment website have stated Carell is in talks for the role but his part has yet to be officially confirmed by the film’s producers.

Oscar winning director Woody Allen has described himself as being lazy and an imperfectionist and blames his middle-class upbringing for lacking the streak needed to make better movies. The 79 year old, who has received 24 Oscar nominations during his career, released his latest film Irrational Man last month.

Speaking to the NPR Allen said, "I'm lazy and an imperfectionist. Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese will work on the details until midnight and sweat it out, whereas for me, come six o'clock, I want to go home. I want to have dinner. Film-making is not [the] end-all be-all of my existence."

A man with four Oscars to his name must be used to receiving praise for his big-screen achievements over the decades, but Woody Allen wasn't altogether comfortable with a standing ovation lasting nearly 20 minutes at the premiere of his new movie Irrational Man at the Cannes Film Festival.

The 79-year-old writer-director was honoured with the lengthy round of applause after the film, a mystery comedy-drama starring Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix, went down very well indeed with the audience on Friday (May 15).

Veteran filmmaker Woody Allen has confessed he’s been struggling with his latest in-development project, a six-episode special event series for Amazon Prime. The 79-year signed on to create the original series for the streaming service back in January, but now says he regrets every second since he signed the deal.

The director inked his deal with the streaming service back in January.

“I have regretted every second since I said OK,” Allen told Deadline while promoting his latest movie Irrational Man at Cannes. “It’s been so hard for me.I had the cocky confidence, well, I’ll do it like I do a movie…it’ll be a movie in six parts, turns out, it’s not.”

Woody Allen has kept suspiciously quiet about his upcoming mystery drama Irrational Man probably safe in the knowledge that with lead stars such as Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone fans won’t need too much to be tempted to watch.

It's an eye-striking and typically varied and unusual cast and Allen remains one of the few directors who signs up talent without showing them a script. Woody Allen has become the latest big name to make a leap into the online world of streaming, with the announcement that the veteran director will be writing and directing a comedy series for Amazon Prime.

Little is known about the series at the moment, which is going under the name 'Untitled Woody Allen Project', however Amazon have already ordered it to a full season. There’s also no projected release date, but something we do know is that each episode will be half an hour.

And in random mid week news, a man has been arrested after allegedly causing trouble on the set of Woody Allen’s new movie. Allen is currently filming on location near Brown University in Providence, for an as-of-yet untitled project to be released in 2015.

The untitled movie is due out sometime in 2015. Filming will continue as scheduled.

Officers of the local police department were called on the scene on Tuesday, August 5, after the suspect hurled a chair at security guards and ran off. He had previously arrived on the set and started asking “weird questions”about the movie's stars, who include Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix and Parker Posey. The incident raises concerns about the security of the actors and everyone involved in the project, however the project will continue as scheduled.

In ‘Magic in the Moonlight’ - the latest comedy from Woody Allen – Colin Firth applied his bumbling British charm to Stanley (alias: Wei Ling Soo), a British stage magician and master illusionist, brought to the French Riviera to showcase his talents in the 1920s. He is charged with unmasking Emma Stone’s Sophie, a so-called spiritualist who is suspected of exploiting a rich family with her faux clairvoyant ways.

The controversy surrounding Woody Allen and Mia Farrow's bizarre family continues but Diane Keaton doesn't believe the rumours alleging Allen molested his adopted daughter.

Diane Keaton has defended Woody Allen in a recent interview with a British newspaper.

Allen's adopted daughter with Mia Farrow, Dylan Farrow, wrote an editorial in The New York Times in which she alleges Allen sexually assaulted her when she was seven years old. Allen responded in an open letter stating he had no history of sexual assault and the timing of the allegations, at the same time as his divorce to Farrow, appears suspicious.

Sofia Vergara has been speaking about her nerves at shooting a ménage a trois with Sharon Stone and John Turturro in Woody Allen's romantic drama Fading Gigolo. The movie - easily the least talked about bit of cinema ever - has a limited release in the U.S this weekend.
