Don Cheadle

Don Cheadle (born 29.11.1964) Don Cheadle is an American Actor and Producer known for his roles in the critically acclaimed Crash and Hotel Rwanda (winning him an Oscar nomination for best lead actor in the 2004 Academy Awards). As well as receiving critical acclaim, he received commercial success as his as role as Colonel James Rhodes in Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3.

Childhood: Don Cheadle was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to mother Bettye and clinical psychologist father Donald Frank Cheadle, Sr. Throughout his childhood the family moved from city to city before finally allowing Don to graduate from the California institute of the Arts with a B.A in Acting. 

Acting Career: Don Cheadle began his career starring in multiple shorts before being cast in Hamburger Hill, a realistic interpretation on one of the bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War. Cheadle continued to star in short films whilst obtaining small television roles such as: The Fresh Prince of Bellaire and a starring role on The Golden Palace, a 24 episode television show about a group of individuals running a hotel. He received his first wide spread film role, starring alongside Academy Award winner Denzel Washington in Devil in a Blue Dress. He received multiple awards for his role as Mouse Alexander including Best Supporting Actor from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association whilst being nominated for similar awards from the highly acknowledged Screen Actors Guild. Cheadle continued to act in television and feature films before working alongside an all star cast: Mark Wahlberg, John. C Reilly, Julianne Moore, Luis Guzman and Burt Reynolds in the three time Oscar Nominated Boogie Nights released in 1997. Cheadle played an 'actor' named Buck Swope and received a positive response for his role. During casting of 1998's Out of Sight Cheadle met highly acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh, starring George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez. Soderbergh and Cheadle developed a professional relationship which lead to Chaedle's casting in Traffic and the 'Ocean's trilogy' (Oceans 11, Oceans 12, Oceans 13) where Cheadle worked alongside previous co-star George Clooney. The trilogy was a commercial success obtaining $1,124,774,054 at the global box-office. Cheadle continued to appear in multiple television films whilst continuing his career in television, appearing in 4 episodes of the successful series ER and The Simpsons as a voice over for Brother Faith in episode, Faith Off. Cheadle appeared in three time Oscar winner and AFI Movie of the Year award winner, Crash (2004), directed by Paul Haggis, Academy Award nominated Director and Academy Award winning writer. Cheadle played Det. Graham Walters, an African-American Detective in the Los Angeles Police Department who promises his mother he will find his younger brother. Crash was also Cheadle's Producing Debut working alongside Producers: Jan Korbelin, Tom Nunan, Andre Reimer and Marina Grasic. 2004 proved to be a critically successful year for Don Cheadle, starring in Hotel Rwanda where he went back to his acting roots in order to play the true story of a hotel manager who housed over a thousand Tutsi refugees during their struggle against the Hutu military. The film was nominated for three Oscars including Don Cheadle for Best Actor and won the AFI audience award for best feature film. Cheadle proved to be a dog lover after being cast in 2006's The Dog Problem and DreamWorks's Hotel for Dogs in 2009 where he played Bernie alongside young, up and coming actors, Emma Roberts and Jake T. Austin. Cheadle was sue to make his directorial debut adapting Elmore Leonard's Tishomingo Blues however difficulties during pre-production lead to the production being abandoned. Cheadle replaced previous co-star Terrence Howard (Crash) in Marvel's Iron Man 2, playing army Colonel and high trained agent, James Rhodes who works collaboratively with Tony Stark to obtain his own suit. Cheadle continued his role in Iron Man 3 after starring in the short film series Captain Planet. Don Cheadle Person Life Cheadle has worked hard with many charities in order to help those in Darfur and Rwanda. He was awarded the BET Humanitarian of the year award for his services in 2007. He was also awarded with the Summit Peace Award by the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates with fellow co-star George Clooney on December 13th 2008.
