Jim Carrey Files Court Documents Responding To Lawsuits Over Ex's Suicide

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey is taking legal action of his own as he fights two separate lawsuits brought against him that accuse him of complicity in his ex-girlfriend’s suicide.

The 54 year old actor has filed a 10-page document detailing his relationship with 30 year old Cathriona White, a stylist and actress whom he dating on and off for nearly three years before she committed suicide in September 2015.

It hits back at claims brought by her mother, Brigid Sweetman, and estranged husband, Mark Burton, who have both brought lawsuits against Carrey accusing him giving White three sexually transmitted diseases, and that he provided her with the prescription pills she used to take her own life.

Jim Carrey's Lawyer Brands Accusations That He Gave Ex-Girlfriend STDs Before Her Suicide As "Outrageous"

Jim Carrey

Legal representatives for Jim Carrey have branded as “outrageous” the recent accusation made by his ex-girlfriend’s current husband that the actor gave her STDs before she committed suicide.

The wrongful death lawsuit filed earlier this week against Carrey, by Cathriona White’s estranged husband Mark Burton, was amended on Thursday (September 22nd) to include an allegation that White was suicidal because she had a sexually transmitted disease she believed the Hollywood star had given to her.

White, an Irish-born make-up artist, was Carrey’s on-off girlfriend for three years before she was found dead from a prescription drug overdose in September 2015 at the age of 30. Carrey acted as a pallbearer at her funeral.

Jim Carrey "Will Not Tolerate" Wrongful Death Lawsuit Following His Ex Girlfriend's Suicide

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey has said he will "not tolerate" the lawsuit brought against him by his ex-girlfriend’s estranged husband following her untimely suicide in 2015. The actor’s former partner, make-up artist Cathriona White took her own life reportedly days after her relationship with Carrey ended for a second time and authorities discovered four different types of powerful medication in her body.

Now Cathriona’s estranged husband, Mark Burton, has filed a lawsuit against Carrey alleging the actor provided her with the pills she overdosed on despite being aware she was "prone to depression".

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues - International Trailer

The news used to be a noble profession before the likes of Ron Burgundy with his set of San Diego anchors Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland and Champ Kind took over. Now it's all about scandal, debauchery and vulgarity and Burgundy and his team are fighting hard to keep it that way. As per usual, they manage to get themselves in all kinds of trouble involving drugs in the studio, completely inappropriate news headlines, accidental racism (not to mention homophobia) and, of course, getting laid, and it's all in a bid to remain on top of the media as Ron fights his own battle to professionally tower over his wife and rival Veronica.

'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues' is the even more hilarious sequel to 2004's 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy'. There's definitely more laughs to be had from everyone's favourite news readers as Judd Apatow ('The 40 Year Old Virgin', 'Knocked Up', 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall') returns to produce it. Director Adam McKay ('Step Brothers', 'The Other Guys', 'Talladega Nights') is also back alongside his co-writer and star Will Ferrell. It is set to feature in cinemas just in time for Christmas, premiering in theatres everywhere on December 20th 2013.

Jim Carrey Shows Off His Chipped Tooth To Promote 'Dumb And Dumber' Sequel

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey let his inner "'Lloyd' hang out", by choosing to not cover up his famously chipped tooth in public.  The dental deficiency gained attention almost 20 years ago, when Carey used it to show off the lovable but stupid nature of his character, Lloyd Christmas, in the cult comedy 'Dumb and Dumber'. With a sequel on the horizon, the film funny-man has decided to show off the tooth, to lighten to moods of his fans.

With Carrey and co-star, Jeff Daniels, filming in Georgia, the famous tooth has been proudly on display both on and off the set.  While speaking to Ellen DeGeneres on her television talk-show, Carey revealed that "I just decided there's a moment in your life when you just gotta let your 'Lloyd' hang out. I have a bonding on it most of the time and now I don't. But I've decided to just live with it - it's fun. Because wherever I go, people laugh in my face and ask me to open beers for them and stuff. It's really kind of a blast."

The news has hit that there is a Dumb and Dumber sequel in the works. Kick-Ass 2 Review

Good

New writer-director Wadlow (Never Back Down) makes one severe misstep with this sequel to Matthew Vaughn's snappy 2010 Kick-Ass: he loses the irony. Now everything is played for goofy laughs and indulgent grisliness. There's no longer any subtext, nothing original in the structure or premise and a clear fear of being politically incorrect. Even so, it's an entertaining romp with a steady stream of funny gags.

After the craziness of the first film, Dave (Taylor-Johnson) has hung up his Kick-Ass costume and is trying to be a regular teen at school, but he's jealous of Mindy (Moretz) secretly carrying on her training as Hit Girl. So he asks her to team up and teach him some new tricks. But when her guardian (Chestnut) finds out, she promises to give up the violence and go back to school. Now Dave has to find a new partner, so he joins a lively team of underground heroes led by the gung-ho Captain Stars and Stripes (Carrey). But Dave's old nemesis Chris (Mintz-Plasse) still wants to avenge his father's death, so he abandons his dodgy heroic alter-ego Red Mist and instead becomes a supervillain called The Mother F**ker, with his own butler-assistant (Leguizamo) and a crew of minions.

Wadlow briskly leaps from one action set-piece to the next, and each scene has a witty sense of humour about it, even if the extreme violence is played for rather glamorised fun rather than the shock-value of the first film. Through everything, the dialog is packed with amusing lines that keep us laughing. And Mindy's parallel plot has its moments as well, throwing her in with the school's mean girls, who clearly don't know who they're messing with. Moretz plays Mindy so well that she makes everyone else feel scruffy and simplistic by comparison. Carrey's muscled meathead is a startlingly against-type role that strangely refuses to go anywhere. But Glen is rivetingly sharp in one key scene.

Glamorize Violence? Kick Ass 2 "Unglamorizes" It, Actually, Says Mark Miller

Jim Carrey Chloe Moretz

It may not an actual word, but Kick Ass creator Mark Miller is pretty sure that Kick Ass 2 unglamorizes violence, instead of the popular opinion that it in fact glamorizes it. The news comes on the eve of the film’s U.K release, and after Jim Carrey withdrew support for it on Twitter.

Chloe MoretzChloe Moretz stars in Kick Ass 2

"In many films you don't see the grieving or the pain but in Kick-Ass you feel every blow... It's a very real take on violence and it almost unglamourises it," Miller explained to the BBC. "Jim Carrey's character ironically is a born-again Christian who refuses to carry a gun because... he doesn't want to be a negative role model for children."

Mark Millar, the creator of the Kick-Ass comic book, has fired back at critics who claim his films are too violent though didn't necessarily deny the claims.

Hollywood comedy actor Jim Carrey - who plays a vigilante in the sequel - is boycotting promotional duties on the film saying he can no longer support the project following the Sandy Hook school massacre.

Could 'Kick Ass 2' Be Even Better Than The First? [Trailer + Pictures]

Chloe Moretz Aaron Johnson Jim Carrey Christopher Mintz-Plasse

Kick Ass was the surprise hit of 2010; the ultra-violent adaption from the comic book by Mark Miller was a cheap, successful movie, and now it’s back with an even bigger roster of stars, and is set to build upon the success of its predecessor.

Chloe MoretzChloe Moretz Kicking Ass

Just in case you didn’t know, the original saw Aaron Johnson (Dave Lizewski) become a vigilante super hero called Kick Ass, fully unaware that Nicolas Cage (Damon MacReady) and Chloe Moretz (Mindy MacReady) were already protecting the city from criminals as Big Daddy and Hit Girl. They join forces to battle the criminal syndicate helmed by Christoper Mintz-Plasse’s father.

Kick Ass 2 - Extended Red Band Trailer

Dave and Mindy have been forced to abandon their Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl monikers following the defeat of ruthless crime boss Frank D'Amico and the death of Mindy's father Big Daddy. Dave goes back to his school life, while Mindy enrols alongside with him and struggles to fit in amongst her fellow female classmates. However, their 'normal lives' don't last when a new group of masked crime-fighters hit the streets led by the patriotic Colonel Stars and Stripes and they decide it's time to do what they think's right and join with them. It's just as well too, as D'Amico's vengeful son Red Mist has adopted a new alter-ego, The Motherf*****, and is attempting to rally an army of supervillains - with names like Black Death, Mother Russia and Genghis Carnage - to take Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl down.

At the Mecca of Geekdom - the San Diego Comic-Con International - the annual Comic-Con kick started in front of an eager audience this Thursday (July 18), with the our-day event already revealing some rather juicy pieces of information about what future films and TV shows have in store. Here's what we know so far, following the first two days of geeky gossip at the annual gathering.

Cobie Smulders
Smulders appeared in the 'Agents' pilot

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was one of the biggest talking points of the firsts two days, as ABC's Avenger's spin-off was discussed by a panel including Avengers director Joss Whedon and Agents... star Clark Gregg. Gregg discussed the miraculous recovery of his Avengers character Agent Phil Coulson, who was 'killed' by Loki in the first Avengers film only to return in time for his own starring series. Revelers got more than just a frank talk, as they were treated to a world premiere of the pilot episode for Agents..., which featured fellow Avengers star Cobie Smulders and was directed by Whedon. For those of you who weren't at Comic-Con, the series premieres on September 24.

Anchorman 2 Trailer

Ron Burgundy, Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland and Champ Kind have now hit the eighties and things are a little different. The legendary San Diego news anchors are now embarking on a different project, as part of a 24 hour news channel, but now they have fresh competition in the form of a young, handsome and well-dressed fellow anchor. Ron continues to put himself in sticky situations, this time involving some awkward racism with his new girlfriend's family during a social occasion among many other things. Will their antics extend beyond their previous capers involving angry bears and mean bikers?  Or will the eighties bring with it a more streetwise news bunch? We doubt the latter.

The sequel to 2004's 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' is set to hit our screens soon entitled 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues'. We'll likely be seeing yet more hijinks from one of Hollywood's favourite comedy casts as they return following at massive $85 million gross from the original movie. Produced again by Judd Apatow ('The 40 Year Old Virgin', 'Knocked Up', 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall'), Adam McKay ('Step Brothers', 'The Other Guys', 'Talladega Nights') also makes a return as director and co-writer alongside Will Ferrell. It is scheduled for release in the UK on December 20th 2013.

Planned Dumb & Dumber Sequel Dropped By Warner Brothers

Jim Carrey Jeff Daniels

Warner Brothers Pictures announced this week that they have decided to drop the planned sequel to the Farrelly brothers' 1994 comedy Dumb & Dumber, putting the project in limbo for the umpteenth time since the film-making siblings started work on the project.

Having come back from the brink so many times before though, the project might still be made, although being dropped by the film company may just prove to be the final nail needed to shut the coffin on this doomed sequel for good. New Line - who are owned by Warners and released the original film - had predicted a $30 million budget was needed to film the sequel, an amount that was apparently deemed too much and spelled the latest stumbling block for the project. Although the original financier had deemed the project too risky, this might not spell the end of Dumb & Dumber 2 just yet though, as now the Farrelly's are free to shop around and see who else might be interested, if anyone in Hollywood is interested in the project that is.

However bleak it may seem, there remains hope that filming for the sequel will happen nonetheless, with original stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniel having already pledged their interest in the project and the Farrelly's script all but finished. There is still a big if hanging over the project, but it isn't completely doomed, and as long as the script is better than the God-awful prequel then we may very well have a Dumb & Dumber 2 at some point.

Ron Burgundy, Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland and Champ Kind return in this hilarious sequel to 2004's 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' which saw Ron land himself a hot girlfriend, get attacked by a bear and have his dog thrown over a bridge by an angry biker. The legendary San Diego news anchors are doubtlessly set to entertain us with more news casting exploits which, according to the latest teaser trailer, will involve 'submachine guns and boobies' and getting 'stinky'. One thing's for sure, it's going to be funnier, weirder and much ruder.

Jim Carrey V Fox News – Fox Team Gang Up In Right Wing Slogfest

Jim Carrey

In a coldly calculated ‘chat’ on The Five, Fox’s hosts sat around and mocked Jim Carrey’s spoof anti-gun video and subsequent press release, pretending they found it funny, and feigning indifference in a poorly executed ego retention mission.

Befitting the demeanour of five-year-olds, sitting around a table and engaging in a game of one-upmanship, The Five team (their names irrelevant) set out to impress each other and their viewers, but exhibiting a brand of fake triviality all the while. “Jimmy mocked Mr. Heston but won’t respond to me -- yet,” said host Greg Gutfeld with his patented smarm. “I guess Jimmy thought he couldn’t lose to a debate to a dead man. That’s what’s really funny. He did. And now Charlton Heston has a brighter future in films than Jim Carrey.” Gutfield continued to pick through Carrey’s press release, calling it “basically a complete meltdown,” adding: “This is a guy that insulted most of America and danced on the grave of Charlton Heston. Jim Carrey is, in this letter, threatening legal action -- something Charlton Heston can’t do because Charlton Heston is dead. That was the whole point, to stand up for somebody who couldn’t talk back to a fool like Jim Carrey."

Fox's 'Five' Fire Swift And Affected Response At Jim Carrey's Gun Culture Parody

Jim Carrey

The battle between Fox News and Jim Carrey continues. Well, it continues on one side anyway. After the actor made and posted a humorous video ridiculing the opponents of stricter gun control policies in the US, he received enormous backlash from many Fox hosts, newscasters and commentators. The video, entitled “Cold Dead Hand”, which was posted on Funny or Die, aims to ridicule so-called “hick” culture in America and references western actor Charlton Heston.

One of its most vocal critics was Greg Guthried, who tried to get Carrey to respond over Twitter, and then critiqued his video on Fox’s The Five on Friday. “I guess Jimmy thought he couldn’t lose to a debate to a dead man. That’s what’s really funny. He did. And now Charlton Heston has a brighter future in films than Jim Carrey.” The host first called the comedian to go on Fox News and defend the video and referred to him as a “pathetic tool” On Friday, Bob Beckel, another host on The Five, read portions of Carey’s statement to prove that Guthried really had gotten to the actor. “He issued a press release, which is basically a complete meltdown,” Gutfeld said. “This is a guy that insulted most of America and danced on the grave of Charlton Heston. Jim Carrey is, in this letter, threatening legal action -- something Charlton Heston can’t do because Charlton Heston is dead. That was the whole point, to stand up for somebody who couldn’t talk back to a fool like Jim Carrey.”

We’ll keep you updated on where the chain of overreactions goes next.

Kick Ass 2 Trailer

After their previous caped capering defeating mob boss Frank D'Amico, things seem back to normal for Dave Lizewski and Mindy who have abandoned their respective Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl monikers in favour of a regular high-school life. Mindy struggles to fit in, however, and when Dave tells her of the new generation of crime-fighting, masked civilians, the offer to get back on the streets of New York seems too good to turn down. This new league of superheroes is led by the formidable Colonel Stars and Stripes who encourages his co-crusaders, above all else, to have fun. Though when news of Red Mist, the son of the now deceased D'Amico who now dubs himself The Motherf*****, rallying together an army of supervillains to take on Kick-Ass and his cohorts, things seem less than enjoyable for the teenage heroes.

New Kick-Ass 2 Trailer: Chloe Grace Moretz Just Owned Your Ass!

Chloe Moretz Aaron Johnson Jim Carrey

The new international trailer for Kick-Ass 2 has arrived, focusing on Chloe Grace Moretz's Hit-Girl character generally causing chaos and kicking some serious behind. Readers of the original comic-book will know that the sequel to Mark Millar's original caper is very much centered on Moretz's character, so expect plenty of the ultra-violent 15-year-old.

The new trailer also gives us a little more footage of Jim Carrey's Colonel Stars and Stripes, though nothing of Donald Faison's Doctor Gravity just yet. Carrey stole the original trailer with his "Yeah, there's a dog on your balls," line, though it's Hit-Girl who leads the cast in the new promo. It opens with her father having a serious discussion with her about her conduct, pleading with her to begin high-school as a regular, normal student.

Jim Carrey Responds To Critics Of Gun Video With Angry Tweet

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey ruffled more than a few feathers when he ventured into the always touchy subject of gun control with his Funny or Die music video for the comedy single 'Cold Dead Hand.' Needless to say, almost as soon as the video went viral, a torrent of abuse spewed forth Carrey's way from pro-gun enthusiasts. But Carrey is not the kind of guy to take things lying down and he has already responded to his critics via the medium of Twitter to further back his claims for tighter gun restrictions.

The video in question features Carrey as famed NRA lobbyist Charlton Heston and a host of other humouros characters and the band Eels as special-guests on a country and western TV show, with the band dressed as John Lennon, Gandhi and Abraham Lincoln, making various quips about fire arm enthusiasts, including the old one about gun nuts over compensating for something a little small. As is Newton's Law, for every action there is, of course, a reaction, and the Right responded to the video in their numbers, with a petition to have Carrey deported back to his native Canada being set up soon after the video made the rounds, as well as more than a few nasty words being sent his direction.

Jim Carrey’s Anti-Gun Violence Spoof Causes Controversy

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey is the latest celebrity to speak out on U.S gun law. We’re not talking a solemn message to the camera in black and white, we’re not even talking a carefully worded statement. No, Carrey has made a country and western song, with accompanying video.

Jim's song is entitled Cold Dead Hand, referring to aspeech made by Charlton Heston at an NRA in 2000, in which he states he would never give up his rifles and he would only relinquish his gun if it was removed 'from my cold dead hands'. The lyrics include: "(The angels) wouldn't take him up to heaven like he planned because they couldn't pry that gun from his cold dead hand. "You're a big big man with a little bitty gland, so you need something bigger with a hairpin trigger.” The funny man later tweeted to explain what the video was about, in case any one didn’t quite appreciate the thrust. “Cold Dead Hand' is abt u heartless m************ unwilling 2 bend 4 the safety of our kids. Sorry if you're offended by the word safety! ;^}"

Of course, the paparazzi caught it on camera as he lost his patience with a fan trying to get multiple autographs. But he manages to recovers his usual charm.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone Review

Very Good

While not the laugh riot it could have been, this comedy consistently amuses us with its pastiche characters and silly gags. It threatens to get bogged down in sentiment at a few points along the way, but manages to veer back into something witty just in time. And while none of the characters are quite as classic as Anchorman's Ron Burgundy, it's an entertaining addition to the affectionate-spoof genre, which includes Blades of Glory and Talladega Nights.

The events take place in the sequin-filled world of Las Vegas magicians, where childhood pals Burt and Anton (Carell and Buscemi) have packed out their theatre for 10 years. But their new assistant Jane (Wilde) is surprised to see that it's now performance by numbers for them, and they can barely stand the sight of each other. Meanwhile, the egomaniac Burt won't consider freshening the act even when faced with competition from attention-seeking street magician Steve (Carrey), who's stealing their audience. But the hotel owner (Gandolfini) urges them to try a big stunt themselves. Or maybe they should return to their roots with their old-school mentor Rance (Arkin).

Carell creates a remarkably believable idiot in Burt Wonderstone, an arrogant womaniser who clearly needs to be brought down a peg or two. What's impressive is how likeable he is, even opposite Buscemi's more sympathetic (but less interesting) Anton. Arkin delivers his usual dryly hilarious supporting turn, while Wilde and Gandolfini do little more than play gently with their usual images. By contrast, Carrey's performance is much more broadly comical. He's funny but far too clownish to ever be taken as a serious threat.

The Amazing World Of The Real Burt Wonderstones - Incredible Close Up Magic

Steve Carell Steve Buscemi Jim Carrey Dynamo David Blaine Criss Angel Paul Daniels Penn & Teller Matthew Wright

Magic tricks are a touchy subject among most grown adults nowadays, with it being literally one of those things where you either love it or you absolutely despise it. But there have been a few street magicians who've really transferred it into youth culture; the likes of West Yorkshire's Steven Frayne, more commonly known as Dynamo, being one obvious example as well as A&E Network star Criss Angel who's known for his cool, rocker style and his superhuman mind-reading skills.

We also thought, what with the release of Steve Carell's new comedy 'The Incredible Burt Wonderstone', also starring Steve Buscemi and Jim Carrey, it might be a good idea to put together our favourite close-up magic tricks to whet your appetite for its UK cinematic release, ranging from the old classics to the hip street stuff that has quickly risen in popularity. Of course, these ten magic mavens put Wonderstone to shame with some of the sleekest sleight-of-hand tricks on record.

Goldstein who have worked together on a variety of projects including 'Horrible Bosses', an episode of 'Bones' and a short film called 'Audio Tour'. Legendary illusionist David Copperfield was also spotted on the red carpet; he makes a cameo appearance on the movie and was also a key figure in developing some of the visual trickery performed by the onscreen magicians. Young versions of main characters Burt Wonderstone and Anton Marvelton were also snapped, played by Mason Cook and Luke Vanek respectively, as well as their character's biggest hero Rance Holloway played by Alan Arkin.

Good Genes Or Good Ops: Which Male Celebrities Don't Show Their Age?

Anthony Kiedis David Beckham Tom Cruise Jim Carrey George Clooney Eddie Murphy Wayne Coyne Colin Firth Antonio Banderas Bono Kevin Spacey Prince Donny Osmond Tom Hanks Christoph Waltz Anthony Bourdain Bruce Willis Jeff Daniels Rowan Atkinson Chris Noth Denzel Washington Liam Neeson Jeff Goldblum Bruce Springsteen Lionel Richie Jeff Bridges Samuel L Jackson Jeremy Irons David Letterman Ted Danson Harrison Ford Amitabh Bachchan Morgan Freeman Dustin Hoffman Dick Van Dyke Roger Moore Rolling Stones

We've all had that moment; looking at photos of our favourite celebs and then jumping out of our seats screaming, 'He's HOW old?!' Well, we've been doing a lot of that here at ContactMusic. Some stars seem to have crept up the age ladder pretty sneakily, the odd wrinkle and grey hair barely registering on our radar, while others don't seem to have aged at all! English football player David Beckham was in his twenties when he rose to global popularity and, looking at his recent H&M underwear advert, it seems that his iconic hairstyles and tattoos are our only way of working out the old from the newer pictures of him. However, he is only 37 and has plenty of time to catch up yet. It's the over-50s that have really had our mouths agape in recent times as we've been scouring the net for the most youthful looking middle to old aged stars.

Steve Carell And Jim Carrey Star In The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (Trailer)

Jim Carrey Steve Carell

Steve Carell and Jim Carrey star in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, a comedy about a magician desperate to increase his public profile (and ticket sales) in an ever-changing world and resorting to a few stunts that might just look a little familiar, if you’re at all familiar with the work of David Blaine. A guerrilla street magician starts to steal Burt’s thunder and he turns to his childhood idol, to remind himself of why he loved magic so much in the first place.

The trailer traces Carell and Buscemi from their childhood beginnings in the world of magic, through their ailing career. Along comes a bleach-blonde Jim Carrey, who performs ‘magic’ of a different kind… such as holding his urine for 12 days. Wonderstone knows that he’s going to have to up his game to keep up but the best he comes up with in this sneak preview is holding his poop in.

Jim Carrey Is Judd Apatow's Funniest Man On Earth

Jim Carrey Judd Apatow Chloe Moretz

The name 'Judd Appatow' probably rings a bell, but without clear recognition of who he is. We guarrantee that he's partly responsible for one of your favourite contemporary comedy movies, having been involved as either a director, writer or producer for The Cable Guy, Anchor Man, Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Pineapple Express, Don't Mess With the Zohan and Bridesmaids. To name but a few. It's safe to say, this man knows comedy. Which is why it is actually news worthy for him to say that Jim Carrey is the funniest man on the earth, because it kind of means that we have to consider whether Jim Carrey might actually be the funniest man on earth...

For the latest edition of Vanity Fair, Appatow teamed up with the editorial team for their special comedy issue and wrote: "When I was a stand-up comedian in the late 80s, I used to open for Jim Carrey on the road. I would do my lame act and then he would come on and do the most energetic, inventive, uproarious set I had ever witnessed. I retired from performing as a result. He was and is the funniest man on earth. This is something we can all agree on. We can debate number two forever but Jim will always be the king."

High praise indeed! And he certainly sounds convincing, but to be honest, we don't actually agree with him. While Appatow is currently working on the Anchor Man sequel and something called 'Can a Song Save Your Life?', Carrey has been working hard on the set for another sequel- Kick Ass 2. As Yahoo reported, he took the cast of the film on a private boat tour of the Thames in England, giving them a hilarious fictional history of England as they travelled- apparently it kept Chloe Moretz, Nicolas Cage and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in stitches.

Steve Carell (The US Office; Despicable Me); Jay Mohr (Jerry Maguire; Gary Unmarried) and Jim Carrey (Bruce Almighty; The Truman Show) are seen on the film set of Burt Wonderstone in Las Vegas, Nevada. Steve is seen filming a scene in which he sits on a large white bench for a while before getting up and walking away. Later on, two fans get their picture taken by their friends; afterwards, they walk off, giggling.

Jay is seen getting into a car; he greets the photographers but doesn't talk to them. Jim is also seen getting into a car but he doesn't talk to the photographers either

Video - Jim Carrey Chats To Lucky Young Fan

Actor and comedian Jim Carrey (Mr. Popper's Penguins; A Christmas Carol; I Love You Phillip Morris) meets his fans at the 'Burt Wonderstone' film set on Freemont Street in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sporting a long ponytail, the actor signed autographs and cracked jokes with fans. He talks to one young fan about the city, looking delighted when the boy tells him he lives here.

Jim will star in Burt Wonderstone alongside Steve Carell and Olivia Wilde. The film tells of a famous but jaded magician (Carell) who has to fight to stay relevant when a new magician (Carrey) bursts onto the scene

A Christmas Carol Review

Excellent
The quintessential Christmas classic gets yet another movie incarnation with this visually impressive version from effects wizard Zemeckis. For most of us, all the surprises here are visual, and it's well worth seeing in 3D.

For seven years after his business partner Marley dies, Ebenezer Scrooge (Carrey) ruthlessly pinches his pennies, underpaying his assistant Bob Cratchit (Oldman) and neglecting the family of his nephew Fred (Firth). Then on Christmas Eve, Marley's ghost informs Scrooge that he will be visited by three ghosts, and that night Scrooge takes a terrifying odyssey through his past, present and future, realising that he has completely missed the point of his life. And of Christmas.

Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events Review

Good
This film lives up entirely to its title. The events are as follows: Death of parents by fire, three siblings turned into victims of their closest relative, deception, escapes, disguises, greed, murder attempted and accomplished, evil genius, egomania, abduction, forced marriage, and more wickedness than we might want to witness.

It also has the genius of a multi-disguised Jim Carrey, the narrative voice (and silhouetted presence) of a finely articulated Jude Law, and a basis in a best-selling series of books, 18 million copies of which have been sold since 1999. The movie has seamless effects, inspired inventiveness, and a serious dramatic "problem." More on that below.

Carry On Joke Tops One-liner Poll

Monty Python Cameron Diaz Jim Carrey Pink Priscilla Presley Woody Allen

Kenneth Williams' famous quip "Infamy! Infamy! They've all got in for me!" has been named as the funniest line in movie history.

He uttered the words as Julius Caesar in the 1964 film Carry On Cleo.

Coming second in the poll for Sky Movies Comedy, which quizzed 1,000 film fans and critics, is the line "He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy" from the Monty Python film The Life of Brian.

And apparently the third funniest words uttered in a film are the exchange between Robert Hays (Ted Striker) and Leslie Nielsen (Dr Rumack) in the 1980 hit Airplane! After Hays said "Surely you can't be serious" Nielsen quipped back "I am seriousand don't call me Shirley".

Other films with one-liners making it into the poll's top ten are lines from the slapstick comedy films Dumb and Dumber, There's Something About Mary and The Naked Gun.

Top ten comedy lines

1) "Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!" Kenneth Williams as Julius Caesar Carry on Cleo (1964)

2) "He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy." Terry Jones as Brian's mother - Life Of Brian (1979)

3) "I am serious, and don't call me Shirley." Leslie Nielsen as Dr Rumack - Airplane! (1980)

4) "Remember you're fighting for this woman's honour, which is probably more than she ever did." Groucho Marx as Rufus T Firefly - Duck Soup (1933)

5) "Don't knock masturbation. It's sex with someone I love." Woody Allen as Alvy Singer - Annie Hall (1977)

6) "Do you have a licence for your minkey?" Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau - The Return of the Pink Panther (1975)

7) "Is that, is that hair gel?" Cameron Diaz as Mary Jensen - There's Something About Mary (1998)

8) "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here. This is the War Room." Peter Sellers as President Merkin Muffley - Dr Strangelove (1963)

9) "Nice beaver! Thank you. I just had it stuffed." Leslie Nielsen as Lt Frank Drebin and Priscilla Presley as Jane Spencer - The Naked Gun (1988)

10) "When I met Mary I got that old-fashioned romantic feeling where I'd do anything to bone her." Jim Carrey as Lloyd Christmas - Dumb and Dumber (1994)

Doing Time On Maple Drive Review

OK
Doing Time on Maple Drive was originally made as a Fox TV movie of the week, but you'll swear it was produced by Lifetime. Talk about a dysfunctional family! There's enough soap here to fill a Palmolive factory.

Mix one part Ordinary People and one part The Great Santini, water it down with TV production values, add a dash of gay-teen after-school special, and you've got the Maple Drive formula. Dated even when it came out, the film's only worthwhile contribution to cinematic history is its casting of a young Jim Carrey in one of his only truly dramatic roles (and by the way, he's actually not bad).

Me, Myself & Irene Review

Weak

If only Jim Carrey's uninhibited and completely unhinged, sweet-and-sour insanity was by itself enough to carry a movie, it might not matter so much that the plot of the Farrelly Brothers' "Me, Myself and Irene" is nothing but an undercooked on-the-run road movie.

Full of crooked cops and rich, double-crossing ex-boyfriends, it's a dim bulb script the boys had shelved ages ago and dusted off last year only after a couple post-"There's Something About Mary" projects fell through.

Sustained only by its outrageousness (breast milk gags, anyone?) and Carrey's hammy physical humor, the movie does have its fair share of laughs. But between guffaws there's nothing to keep the uneven "Irene" from collapsing under its own dead weight.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind Review

Very Good

Having dabbled in John Malkovich's mind in "Being John Malkovich," then delved into his own neurotic noggin in "Adaptation," ingeniously idiosyncratic screenwriter Charlie Kaufman wraps his head around themes of lucid-dreaming and lost love in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," and once again hits the Freudian jackpot.

A melancholy metaphysical romance about how human beings are the sum of their experiences, this distinctively surreal, meditative fable takes place largely inside the rapidly dissolving memories of a dejected sad sack named Joel Barish (Jim Carrey), who hopes to end a crippling case of heartbreak by having his ex-girlfriend (Kate Winslet) electronically expunged from his cerebellum in a makeshift CAT-scan procedure performed by a dubious back-alley doctor (Tom Wilkinson) and his nerdy house-call technicians.

To augment the film's sublimely disorienting narrative -- parts of which run backwards as Joel's discordant recent memories are boiled away before his more melodious earlier ones -- director Michel Gondry opens with an unsteady shot of Joel wobbling out of his unfolded sofa-bed on Valentine's Day 2004, the morning after his selective lobotomy.

Man On The Moon Review

Good

Seeing the biopic "Man On the Moon" is like being at a seance in a comedy club.

Director Milos Forman and star Jim Carrey conjure up the spirit of their subject -- Andy Kaufman, that most eccentric of professional oddballs, that patron saint of the practical joke -- with such effective Ouija-dom that at times is as if his ghost has taken over the film.

All the buzz you've probably heard about Carrey's performance is true. A Kaufman aficionado from way back, he does more than just mimic Andy's mannerisms and repeat his routines -- it's like Kaufman has slipped inside Carrey's skin (shall I compare thee to "Being John Malkovich"?) and won a battle for control of his body. There's still a wee bit of Carrey peeking out, but that sliver his own style serves to create a fascinating Kaufman-Carrey alloy.
