James Corden Takes 'The Late Late Show' To A Random Neighbour's House Again

James Corden

Can you imagine just chilling out at home with your housemates when suddenly James Corden shows up on your doorstep with the entire crew from 'The Late Late Show'? Well, that's exactly what happened to one set of friends last night (March 16th 2016) in Los Angeles for the one-year anniversary of the show.

Reggie Yates and James CordenJames Corden takes The Late Late Show to the streets of LA

Echoing last year's antics when he arrived at a stranger's house during his second week as host, James Corden took to the streets of LA once again to find another household willing to play host to the British presenter himself, his crew, and a string of celebrity guests for a live airing. While his charm initially failed him at first (most neighbours didn't seem entirely keen on the idea), he eventually came across Natalie and her housemates Taylor, Melodie and Adam, who were only too willing to accomodate them.

Alanis Morissette Joins James Corden To Rework 'Ironic' For The Tinder And Snapchat Generation

Alanis Morissette James Corden

Alanis Morissette’s 1996 hit ‘Ironic’ has taken a lot of flack over the years for some of its less-than-ironic lyrics (is rain on your wedding day really ironic?). But on Monday night’s edition of James Corden's 'Late Late Show', the song was given a modern re-working that we can all get behind.

Alanis MorissetteAlanis Morissette has reworked ‘Ironic’ for the 21st century.

Wearing in a red beanie hat, resembling the one she wore in the song’s video, Morissette sat down for an acoustic rendition of the hit, with a few different lyrics. ’An old friend sending you a Facebook request and only find out they're racist after you accept,' Morissette began, before she was joined by host James Corden dressed in a matching outfit.

Kill Your Friends Review

Weak

First-time director Owen Harris boldly attempts a comedy even blacker than American Psycho or Filth with this 1990s Britpop satire, but he never quite gets the tone right. Based on the bestselling novel by John Niven (who also wrote the screenplay), the film lacks a single character the audience can identify with or root for. And since it's impossible to care about the slimy anti-hero, the movie ends up merely feeling mean-spirited.

The slimeball at the centre is Steven (Nicholas Hoult), an A&R man at Unigram Records at the peak of Britpop in 1997. He's had a run of hot new artists, and doesn't let his loathing of pop music slow him down, tormenting his assistant Rebecca (Georgia King), his faithful scout Darren (Craig Roberts) and his matey colleague Roger (James Corden). He's also so determined to get a promotion that he takes things to violent extremes, then becomes even more annoyed when the job goes to his hated rival Antony (Tom Riley). So now all he has left is the search for another vile musician he can turn into the next big thing.

The film has a sleek, snaky energy to it that nicely recreates the cut-throat atmosphere of the period. And Niven has a lot to say about how the music business abuses truly talented artists while promoting inept stars like Steven's aspiring girl band Songbirds. Essentially, this film is a full-on assault on a British society where self-absorbed jerks climb the corporate ladder because they're ambitious, not because they're actually good at anything. The one sense of balance in the story comes from a cop (Edward Hogg), who's investigating a murder but really wants Steven to help him launch his own musical career. In other words, the film is shouting its themes at the top of its voice, rather than letting them hit the target with quiet precision.

Watch Stevie Wonder Make James Corden Cry In Most Epic 'Carpool Karaoke' Yet

James Corden Stevie Wonder

James Corden has already delivered many memorial moments and superstar guests since taking over the ‘Late Late Show’ earlier this year. But the latest edition of his ‘Carpool Karaoke’ segment may have just delivered the show’s most epic moment yet, as the host was joined by singing legend, Stevie Wonder.

James CordenCorden was joined by Stevie Wonder for the latest edition of ‘Carpool Karaoke’.

The segment started with Wonder in the driving seat with Corden nervously asking the singing superstar if he was sure he had driving license. Wonder then told a relieved Corden that he didn't in fact have his licence with him, before accusing the host of stealing it (in a British accent of course).

Lady In The Van - Alternative Trailer

Miss Shepherd is a highly educated elderly woman living off barely anything in a small dilapidated van. She asks for nothing from her community, other than to be allowed her peace and to have a place to park her van. Constantly being moved by authorities, she finds herself taking up residence on Alan Bennett's road, much to the displeasure of his house proud neighbours. Despite her prickly disposition and shameless boldness, Bennett - a man of more timid and awkward nature - takes an immediate shine to Miss Shepherd, offering her his driveway to park her vehicle on a temporary basis. Soon, though, just a few weeks turns into fifteen long years as this impoverished musical scholar and this lowly gentleman of humble background become unlikely yet inseparable friends - a friendship rocked by Miss Shepherd's eventual ill health which soon strikes a sadness in the heart of the whole town.

Kill Your Friends - Teaser Trailer

It's the mid 90's and the music scene in the UK is booming. Excess is the word of the decade and the music industry runs on a steady supply of drugs, booze and huge amounts of money. Steven Stelfox is a young A&R manager at one of London's biggest labels but in reality it's quite by chance that he's made it. It's a dog-eat-dog industry and when your ideas run out there's a good chance you'll be cast aside. Not wishing to be the next for the chopping block, Stelfox takes his career ambitions to a whole new level. How well would you survive when even your friends are your enemies?

Since its release in 2008, John Niven's book 'Kill Your Friends' has become a cult classic. Niven himself had worked at many record labels and inspired some of the themes behind the story. Whilst the story is fiction and no one was actually killed, many people in the industry draw many parallels to what actually happened during those years.

Kill Your Friends is the first major release for director Owen Harris and sees Nicholas Hoult & James Corden take two of the lead roles.

Into The Woods Review

Excellent

It's taken a long time for this stage musical to make it to the big screen, and while director Rob Marshall once again fails to give the story a sharp focus (see also Chicago and Nine), he at least lets the music and characters shine. Originally staged on Broadway in 1987, this musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine is a gleeful mash-up of fairy tales that continues on past the "happily ever after", eventually turning rather dark and emotional.

Once upon a time, there was a Baker and his Wife (James Corden and Emily Blunt) who learn that they can't have children because the Witch (Meryl Streep) next door has cursed them. She offers to break the spell if they collect a cow, a cape, a slipper and a lock of hair. Meanwhile, Jack (Daniel Huttlestone) annoys his mother (Tracey Ullman) by selling the family cow for a handful of "magic" beans; Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford) dodges a leery Wolf (Johnny Depp) following her through the woods; Cinderella (Anna Kendrick) sneaks to the festival to meet the Prince (Chris Pine) against the wishes of her nasty stepmum (Christine Baranski); and Rapunzel (Mackenzie Mauzy) defies her mother by letting her hair down for a Prince (Billy Magnussen). After knotting together, each plot strand resolves happily. Until the next day.

This is very much a story of two halves, with the sharp, snappy, hilarious first act contrasting strongly against the rather disturbingly grim and grisly second act, as everyone's story unravels to reveal each character's deep neediness. What makes this show so clever is the way it undermines the usual fairy-tale happiness of most stories, cautioning that this artifice is actually a problem for children. While the songs are all clever and thoroughly engaging, none of them is particularly hummable on first listen, but each is packed with witty wordplay and serious subtext that gets under the skin.

Begin Again Review

Excellent

Fans of the Oscar-winning 2006 Irish film Once (and its more recent stage-musical adaptation) may find this American drama a little derivative, but it's a strong story in its own right. This time writer-director John Carney has assembled a starry cast to nicely capture the rhythms of New York's streets. And the songs, while not quite as integral to the story, are gorgeous.

The opening sequence sets up the story from two perspectives, as music producer Dan (Mark Ruffalo) hears songwriter Greta (Keira Knightley) reluctantly perform at a bar's open-mic night. Both of these people are at their rope's end: always seeking offbeat talent, Dan is on the outs with his record label partner (Yasiin Bey, aka Mos Def), and wants to reconnect with his estranged wife and teen daughter (Catherine Keener and Hailee Steinfeld). Meanwhile, Greta has just been dumped by her rising pop-star boyfriend Dave (Adam Levine), who got his big break from a song she wrote. To stop her moping, her pal Steve (James Corden) encourages her to start singing her own songs. In Greta, Dan sees the kind of artist he longs to make records with, so with nothing to lose the two set out to record her songs at locations around the city for a new album.

Like Once, this is a love story that doesn't actually involve romance: these two people need each other to discover their life's passions. So Ruffalo and Knightley get the chance to create some terrific chemistry without much of a threat that they'll fall for each other. Indeed, each has other fish to fry, as they try to sort out their emotional connections elsewhere. Their flirty friendship plays out in a fresh, effortless way that generates some complex emotions and ideas. Ruffalo is always great at creating these kinds of loose, slightly hapless characters, while Knightley delivers an even more earthy performance, letting her own sparky personality emerge on-screen for the first time along with some serious skill as a singer. And the supporting cast add texture in just the right places.

Harry Styles Is Victim Of James Corden Phone Prank - This Time He Was Ready

James Corden Harry Styles Michael McIntyre The 1975 Nick Grimshaw

Styles wasn't about to get shown up for his gullibility again. Harry Styles has become yet another victim-of-choice for a phone prankster after having made headlines with his embarrassingly gullible display at the hands of The 1975's Matt Healy and Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw. This time, Styles was chosen as the target for James Corden's hilarious Send-To-All prank on The Michael McIntyre Chat Show on Monday (14th April).

Harry Styles Was Poised For A Witty Retort When James Corden Prank Texted Him.

The send-to-all game involved James sending a cheeky text to everyone on his contacts list to see who responded. The 32 year-old entertainer wrote "Me and you, lapdancing. Are you in or out? Come on, let's do this." Having learned his lesson from last month's blunder, the One Direction singer wasn't taking any chances and instead replied "Great, but what is it with you and lapdancing? What happened the last time we did that wasn't pretty."

Steve Carell Had Difficulty Filming 'Anchorman 2' Because Will Ferrell Was Too Funny For Him

Steve Carell Will Ferrell Christina Applegate Paul Rudd Olly Murs James Corden David Koechner

Actor Steve Carell had difficulty working on the 'Anchorman' sequel because he found Will Ferrell so funny it was ''almost impossible'' to work with him. The 51-year-old 'Despicable Me' actor apparently had no quarrels with immediately signing on for 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues', as the 2004 original was the "best fun" he's ever had. On the flip side, it made his job incredibly difficult, as he was almost unable to film certain scenes as he struggled to keep his composure.

In an interview with 'Bang Showbiz' at 'Anchorman 2''s premiere at The Odeon, Leicester Square, London, the 'Crazy, Stupid, Love.' star explained that: 'There's a scene we did in a lighthouse with Ron and it's probably the scene I laughed the hardest at. Will was so especially funny that day, it was almost impossible to get it [the scene] done.

One Chance Trailer

When Paul Potts, an opera singer, auditioned for the first series of 'Britain's Got Talent' in 2007, he blew everyone away with his incredibly powerful vocals. Going on to win the show was a surprise to no-one, and it was not just his soulful arias that moved audiences, but his own emotional life story. Growing up he was frequently bullied and found consolation only in that of operatic music. Later, he met his devoted wife Julie-Ann Cooper who relentlessly encouraged him to perform and attend an opera school in Italy. His lack of confidence in himself caused most other people not to believe in him, but he took a brave step in leaving his job as a shop manager and giving 'BGT' a good shot - a decision that would change his life beyond recognition forever.

A week after Sir Paul McCartney's latest solo album, New, debuted, the brand new video for track 'Queenie Eye' premieres today (October 24, 2013). However, this isn't any old music video: the former Beatle has called on a few friends to help, with stars including Gary Barlow, Alice Eve, Kate Moss, Chris Pine, Johnny Depp, James Corden and Jeremy Irons all featured.

The song is named after and draws inspiration from a childhood game McCartney used to play in Liverpool. "Queenie eye, queenie eye, who's got the ball? It isn't in my pocket. O-U-T spells OUT!" sang a young Macca and the same lyrics are called upon for Paul's latest, upbeat track that has been described by Q Magazine as "jaw-dropping."

Is Paul Potts' Movie 'One Chance' A Festival Classic In The Making?

Paul Potts James Corden

Picture the scene if you will. It's Christmas Eve. The kids are going crazy, running around, watching the skies. You've just poured yourself another brandy and, oh look, One Chance is just about to start on BBC1. You know, the Paul Potts movie with that fella from Gavin & Stacey in it.

It's going to happen. The movie - which hits cinemas in the UK on Friday (October 18, 2013) - is likely to become one of the festive feel-good movies that all the family can sit down and enjoy.

It stars James Corden as Potts, a bullied shop assistant by day and amateur opera singer by night. UK audiences will be familiar with the story. Potts became an instant singing phenomenon after appearing on Simon Cowell's ITV show Britain's Got Talent.

James Corden Didn't Become World Class Tenor For 'One Chance'. Deal With It.

James Corden

The British media went into frenzy early on Tuesday (September 10, 2013) when James Corden had the guile to admit that he didn't provide the opera for his new movie One Chance, based on the story of Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts.

Although he's known to be a competent singer (he has just begun filming the Hollywood musical The Woods), Corden confessed that the vocals heard in David Frankel's new movie were provided by Paul Potts himself. Which sort of makes sense really.

"It was very, very straightforward - I would pretend to be singing opera, and then Paul would go into the studio and loop to my mouth. I hope I haven't given it away too much, but that's basically what happened," the actor told press including the Independent at the Toronto Film Festival this week.

America's Remake Of Gavin And Stacey, 'Us And Them' Previews Trailer

Alexis Bledel Jason Ritter James Corden

We’re already grimacing at the prospect of an American remake of The Inbetweeners, but us Brits should perhaps be more worried that the US is also making what is effectively a Stateside version of one of our most British of comedies, Gavin & Stacey.

The trailer for Us And Them has been revealed and we’re really not sure about it, even though it does star Alexis Bledel and Jason Ritter. Ok, so the American Office ended up being a surprise success, and we have to hand it to them for pulling it off, but an American Inbetweeners? Gavin & Stacey? They go too far. As usual it looks like the comedy is going to lose all its subtlety with everything glammed up somewhat in what in the UK was traditionally a pretty humble, sweet natured comedy even as it made stars of Matt Horne and James Corden.

Last night’s Brits ceremony could well have been the blandest Brits in years. Aside from a frisson of post-breakup tension between Harry Styles and Taylor Swift (who took to the stage wearing a sexy black hot-pant jumpsuit with gold embellishments) there was little in the way of shock, surprises, or backstage gossip (or if there is, it hasn’t made it’s way down to us yet!).

Forget The Gongs, What's In This Year's BRIT Awards Goody Bag?

James Corden Adele Mumford And Sons Emeli Sande Rita Ora

Adele, Mumford & Sons, Emeli Sande, blah, blah, blah: nobody really cares who walks away with the Brit Awards right? Lets face it, we tune in every year in the hope of some clunky presenting, a stiletto heel break, or a wardrobe malfunction. However, something else that appears to be of interest before every Brit Awards ceremony is the shadowy goody bags that each nominee and performer gets to take home. The Academy Awards put the stoppers on their Oscars gift bags years ago, owing totax concerns, but the British don't care about that. The Brit Awards goody bags and back - but what's in them this year?

Well, according to ceremony organizers, the biggest names in pop music will be taking home a Lucky Voice Karaoke Kit, in order to practise at home, we assume. For the girls, there's also a Jack French London Primrose Bag, while for the boys, it's a Twenty8 signature bag from The London Collection. Elsewhere, there's a Paperblanks journal ensuring telephone numbers can by duly scribbled down at the after-party, and there's also some Highland Angel cufflinks and Ti Senti Milani jewellery. Fancy.

Hey, there's also a scarf (for the cold weather) and some bamboo sunglasses (for the hot weather), as well as JBL headphones and a JBL 'flip' portable wireless stereo system. Should - heaven forbid - any of the celebrities forget to shower themselves in perfume and aftershave, the goody bag contains a Hugo Boss fragrance for the guys, and a Boss Nuit perfume for the ladies.

Is James Corden BRIT Awards Hosting Appearance In Doubt?

James Corden

The BRIT Awards 2013 takes place tonight, but could they be doing so without their host James Corden? Reports suggest that the comedian and actor has developed a throat infection this week, placing his participation in jeopardy.

Yesterday (February 18, 2013) The Daily Mirror reported a source as telling them about the illness, in a manner that suggested him dropping out wasn’t out of the question. “James has suffered with it in the past so recognised the symptoms straightaway” they apparently said. "He knew he had to act fast and rest immediately to stop the viral infection developing any further” they continued, before adding “James has been really excited about presenting the Brit awards and doesn’t want to have to pull out so getting better in time for the big night is his number one priority.”

Groucho Club Harry Styles One Direction Caroline Flack Cara Delevingne Nick Grimshaw James Corden

Nick Grimshaw, James Corden, Harry StylesHarry Styles, James Corden and Nick Grimshaw Hit The Groucho Club On Thursday Evening

What is it about London's Groucho Club that has celebrities returning week-in-week-out? Harry Styles, the youngest member of One Direction, turns 19-years-old today (January 31, 2013) and chose London's hippest venue as the place to party with ex-girlfriends Caroline Flack and Cara Devalinge and pals James Corden and Nick Grimshaw on Thursday evening. The boys had started the evening at a Mexican restaurant, but all roads led to London's most infamous hangout - an unassuming members' club in the heart of London's Soho district.

Caroline Flack turned up wearing a red fur jacket and some futuristic heels, while Cara opted for leather trousers and a striped jacket following an appearance at Burberry's bash at their flagship store in Regent Street. Harry and Caroline have been close since they dated for three-months when he was 17, with the Xtra Factor presenter describing him as "brilliant and so much fun." On Thursday, Styles opted for a weird looking shiny blazer, while Radio 1 breakfast DJ Grimshaw went for a fitted black jacket. In all fairness, Corden was probably the best dressed of the guys, in jeans, a shirt and smart sweater.

Will Poor James Corden Ever Make It Onto Lena Dunham's Girls?

Lena Dunham James Corden

British star James Corden says he's still holding out for a role on Lena Dunham's Golden Globe winning comedy series Girls. The Gavin & Stacey actor was sounded out by Dunham and co-writer Jenni Konner for the first series, though his commitments to Broadway show One Man, Two Guvnors meant he was unable to take part.

The 34-year-old says he's still keen to hook up with Dunham - considered one of the most exciting writing talents in television. "I was approached to be in the first series but had to decline due to work commitments; I really hope it works out that I can be in the show in the future. I think working with Lena would be an amazing experience," Corden told Company magazine. The season two premiere of Girls aired on Sunday (January 13, 2013) to unanimous praise from critics. It follows the story of various twenty-somethings living in New York City, though without the glitz and glamour of Sex and the City, Gossip Girl and the like. Corden added, "Girls is smart, funny, moving and completely original. Lena Dunham has written a show about real people in real situations, and the best thing about it is that real people love it. It also has - what I think to be - one of the best male performances ever by Adam, played by Adam Driver. His performance is so captivating and brilliant."

Writer Konner revealed he had approached Corden for the show having become "obsessed" with Gavin & Stacey, the BBC comedy that made the actor a household name.

Will Jack Whitehall Resign As Television Awards Presenter Over Complaints?

Jack Whitehall James Corden Jonathan Ross

Jack Whitehall is reportedly under pressure to stand down as presenter of a prize at the National Television Awards later in January following complaints about his performance on Channel 4's Big Fat Quiz Of The Year. His suitability for the appearance was called in question by NTA presenter George Mitchell who told the Daily Mail (who else?) that he wanted to hold a "summit conference" to decide if Whitehall should still be invited.

The furore began when an indignant article in the aforementioned newspaper criticised Channel 4's broadcast. It slammed lewd jokes about The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, President Barack Obama, sprinter Usain Bolt and the singer Susan Boyle. Mitchell said he feared the controversy could "run and run" and offered Whitehall "the chance to withdraw."

However, creator and executive producer of the NTA (i.e, somebody with more power than Mitchell) told The Independent, "Contrary to spurious reports earlier today, I would like to confirm that there has been no crisis summit over Jack Whitehall's invitation to present an award at this year's National Television Awards. We are very much looking forward to welcoming him on January 23 for our live show."

MP Weighs In On Jack Whitehall, James Corden ‘Big Fat Quiz’ Outrage

James Corden Jack Whitehall Frankie Boyle Susan Boyle Barack Obama Carly Rae Jepsen

Channel 4 must be breathing a huge sigh of relief that they didn’t decide to invite Frankie Boyle on this year’s Big Fat Quiz show, because they’ve managed to cause enough controversy, without having the sharp-tongued Scotsman on board. This year, the damage has been done largely by Jack Whitehall and James Corden, who were openly drinking a bottle of red wine throughout the show and made a number of crude jokes about The Queen, as well as Barack Obama and Susan Boyle.

Lord Burns, the chairman of Channel 4, declined the opportunity to speak to the Daily Mail about the show, but the British newspaper is up in arms about its distasteful content. The outrage has spread beyond the press, though, with Tory MP Conor Burns – a member of the Commons’ culture media and sport select committee – demanding to know why the show was aired as early as 9pm. “I actually watched some of the broadcast because we are staying with family for the holidays and I found it quite distasteful,” said the MP. “It was base, unfunny comedy and in some ways I thought its greater crime really was that it just wasn’t funny.”

At one point during the show, James Corden and Jack Whitehall attempted to cover up one of their answers, aware that it was inappropriate, but eventually revealed what they had written on the screen anyway. A sample of the ‘vulgar’ comedy on display during the quiz was Whitehall’s comment about Cary Rae Jepsen: “If you had given your number to someone like Carly Rae Jepsen and discovered how annoying she was, you would suck someone’s c*** to get rid of her.”

James Corden To Return As BRIT Awards Host; Damien Hirst To Design Statuette

James Corden Damien Hirst

James Corden’s stuttering performance under pressure at last year’s BRIT Awards ultimately hasn’t ruined his chances of being asked back, with the event confirming that the actor and comedian will be returning to host the music awards in 2013.

The televised awards descended into controversy this year after Corden was ordered by production to tell best British album winner Adele to cut her acceptance speech short so that they’d have time to show all of Blur’s performance. Unhappy with that, Adele flipped the bird at the cameras and the event came under criticism for essentially telling the night’s biggest winner to get off stage.

Corden will be hoping that there’ll be no repeat of that this time round, with the organizers having hopefully learnt their lesson. In addition to his confirmation to return, organizers have also revealed that Damien Hirst will follow in the footsteps of Sir Peter Blake and Dame Vivienne Westwood in designing the statuette to be handed out to winners in 2013. According to the Telegraph, BRITS chairman David Joseph said: "We are delighted that Damien will become the third extraordinary creative Briton to re-imagine the Brit statue. He is truly one of the most important British artists ever and his unique vision will make winning a 2013 Brit an even more special proposition."
